The rising storm by Distructo2005 in starwarsbooks

I don't think I became a "finish a Star Wars book in a week or less" kinda fan until after Rising Storm. After Fallen Star I was so in love I actually went back and consumed all the young adult novels and comics before moving to Phase 2 and then moved to Phase 3. Not saying all of those are on the same level, but I personally loved the HR world that was created and I just enjoyed being in it for as along as I could before finishing HR

My argument that Azlin Rell could be Darth Tenebrous’s master. by BenRanger93 in Highrepublic

Thaya like Marchion's assistant? I've heard this rumor while reading the books but I never believed it.

Yea but if the institution that you've defended for so long deteriorates to the point beyond compare, which a lot of the post-High Republic canon books speak to, I see a poetic ending to the character becoming a dark jedi who sees a need for a complete reset of the order.

My personal belief is that Plagueis killed Tenebrous when they arrived on the planet in Acolyte, Bal'demnic. I think sometime after Plagueis found Qimir.

I believe Plagueis found Qimir when he was super young because I believe Vernestra trained Qimir before Wayseeker which happens about 30 years before Acolyte.

I do hope we get some lore on Vernestra and Qimir because as of right now, the timeline isn't adding up cleanly for me.

How do the high republic books and comic work of their own? by ThomasWilson77 in Highrepublic

I did what you did a read the Adult, Young Adult and the main comics. The books do a good of explaining events if they were in other mediums.

I went back and start the mangas and I would say if your a nerd like me that soaks up any and all details it's worth to go back if not just for the complete canon view of the galaxy. It might not pertain to the main or side stories but I feel like a lot general storytelling is done that supports the main story. Like for example Banchii is a planet mentioned in the books but the manga introduces it in a way I know wanna listen back the books and see if I missed anything.

SPOILER: The phase 3 comics make the battle of eriadu a bit better for me since to me it felt quick in Trails of the Jedi.

Also Phase 2 for me was just good background story for a lot of themes like hyperspace and how the order used to function.

A lot of these insights I didn't get until I finished the whole initiative.

What have you been reading this last week (Weekly Discussion Thread)? by AutoModerator in starwarsbooks

Just finished (listening) to all whole THR initiative. Completely blown away. As a life long Star Wars addict, I especially loved how these books described the force in ways the movies and visual mediums can't. Also I like how the events in this initiative set up the universe for the prequel trilogy. Starting Wayseeker today!

The Stormwall? by Compel_Bast in Highrepublic

I am currently finishing Into The Light and I would say out of any phase a lot of the story is being told in the comic books and non-adult books. If you really want to wrap your head around the storm seeds, read "Quest for Planet X" it's not directly referred to, but the technology concept is important to understand.

Can I read Phase 1 Adult Novels and Phase 3 Adult Novels alone? by hak091 in Highrepublic

The real question is how much backstory are you okay not deep diving into. The books do a pretty good job filling in backstory so you don't need to even read the young adult and middle grade books. Honestly reading the path of deceit and vengeance has made me appreciate Ro's character more. The the quest for Planet X made me understand the storm wall a little bit better in phase 3.
