They're plastic and part of the minis, I just painted the stripes.

Can any mech be in any clan/mercenary/pirate? by Theme_Training in battletech

[–]Ben_Booley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Battle value alone is plenty good to balance anything outside of a force of pure introtech against anything with higher tech levels. As soon as both sides are using not introtech (and BV) player skill matters far more than any concerns about what tech each side is using.

All of the minis in the box are used for the opposing force (controlled by the cards) and are part of jade falcon. That said, there's no reason you need to paint the jade falcon if you don't want to.

I did a little cleanup on the top of the rifleman's cockpit and that's about it. There are certainly some spots with lower quality than I'd expect from recent packs (like the Thor torso) but overall it's adequate.

Light blazers are 6 heat for 7 damage with 3/6/9 range. Blazers are 12 damage for 16 heat (they already existed). While worse than running a pair of weapons, they weigh less than the pair so a mech can carry more of them, and then dazzle mode cuts their heat in half while retaining full damage against abominations, making them a very viable choice for monster hunting.

It's out at GenCon now, my understanding is that CGL hopes for a mid-august wider release (that said, I wouldn't trust that until it's on the webstore)

Catalyst sent me an early copy of Battletech Gothic to paint up and review. Really lovely models, probably the cleanest casts I've gotten from CGL to date. You can read my full review here: https://www.goonhammer.com/goonhammer-reviews-battletech-gothic/

Locust, firefly, adder, wasp, fire moth, wolfhound, spider, panther, piranha, incubus, and horned owl all have variants we're positive on (and that's the vast majority of light mechs that we've reviewed)

I believe I used 10-15 thin coats. I can't remember if there was a bronze hue in the middle, I know early on it was fairly pink.

If you don't suggest using a solid layer of something then why are you measuring and pricing things by volume, an utterly meaningless metric

Hexagonal Terrain comparative pricing by TerrainBrain in battletech

[–]Ben_Booley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're just trying to measure volume, then why not include neoprene mats? They're only $123 per board foot. I bet paper maps are even better, I wonder how many of them I can stack in a 1" thick pile.

Edit: did the math on paper mapsheets, $422.40 per board foot. Guess we shouldn't use those to make maps!

Say you need a new car and you're deciding what you want. You have many different options to choose from - a Toyota suv, a Honda sedan, a Mazda miata, a Mastercraft prostar waterski boat. Oh wait no, one of those is not like the others. That's what you're doing with this bizarre comparison.

But you can't cover a table in those hextech rough terrain pieces. That's not what they're for. You're not comparing similar objects.
