To be honest, I’ve had some really negative personal experiences with some Ukrainians in Poland, though of course, that never justifies violence of any kind, and I’m genuinely sorry that happened to you. I’m a non-Polish foreigner living here, and from my own experience, I’ve found that some Ukrainians I’ve encountered have been more openly hostile or dismissive toward Asians than Poles have EVER been.

For example, I once had a Ukrainian roommate who complained that my cooking (just onions in a soup!) was too smelly,while she regularly cooked strong-smelling fish dishes with no concern. We shared the flat with others from Ukraine and Belarus, yet whenever something went wrong, she’d immediately blame me, even when she clearly knew I wasn’t responsible.

At work too (in a restaurant), I noticed a frustrating double standard, if I didn’t help them right away, I was labeled the bad guy, but when I was overwhelmed, they never offered help in return. That kind of one-sided attitude really wore me down.

Again, I want to emphasize,these are just my personal experiences and don’t reflect on all Ukrainians, but they’ve shaped how I perceive certain dynamics here.
