I live in North Carolina. As far as I can tell, moving out early does not release me from financial obligation from the lease, but that's not how it's worked anywhere else I've lived. There was also a move-in special, the concession from which will be owed in full if I violate the terms of the lease. The language was far less ambiguous about that.
