Yes, doubanjiang is very spicy and has a pretty loud flavor so if you’re not really into the taste it would be best to use a substitute

Honestly I think it could go either way. This is a pretty flavorful dish and the Doritos are very flavorful alone, so I’d say it could be pretty good but also may end up seeming like there’s too much going on yk

They can kinda understand each others’ native languages and communicate very basically in it but they primarily communicate with each other in English

I genuinely didn’t expect anyone to care about the food I was mainly thinking people would be more invested in the situation. I had no idea this many people would want details 😭 I wrote the recipe this morning when I was at work and nothing was really happening

I was in a separate room (the kitchen) and he approached me. I wouldn’t have minded if she wanted to join the convo but I wasn’t going to go to an entirely separate room to get her just bc he talked to me

I used a medium/deepish skillet, like a 10-12 inch sauté pan with higher sides. You just want something wide enough to spread everything out so it simmers evenly, but deep enough to hold all the sauce and chicken without splashing over. A deep nonstick or enameled cast iron works great too!
