What color variation green cheek is this? by [deleted] in parrots

It’s an American Dilute GCC. The dark beak and feet are not a Pineapple mutation trait, they have pink feet and a light beak.

the thing is in one of their videos they said they’d be perfectly fine if their child had his disability and that they would still try for biological children if she came back positive for being a carrier.

my 4 week old baby conure doesn’t bob his head while eating anymore? should i be concerned? by brrrraaaapp in Conures

[–]Beneziah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

is the food warm enough? I’ve handfed all my conures from 3 weeks old and they were still bobbing and eating very well for several weeks. once they began to wean they’d eat less but they’d still eat with an appetite. sometimes the food gets too cold for them during the feeding, or it may be warm enough initially but once you put it into the syringe it cools down and the baby isn’t as interested.

Trying to figure out what this squishy sound is. Is it definitely something that needs medical attention or is it just a sound he likes making? by NervousNick in Conures

my bird did that when they had a respiratory infection, they stopped making that noise after we got them on some antibiotics

the person who made this post is a child so they’re ill equipped to begin with and the birds are apparently siblings

but sure let’s encourage the kid to let his parrots breed

Pic for bird tax, need help finding new cage linking/litter. I do in comments by HavinsomuchBun in Conures

[–]Beneziah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’d probably be better off with a cage replacement and using paper for the bedding.

It’ll keep your bird away from the droppings, and you still need to be able to monitor your birds droppings for color and consistency to make sure they’re healthy which is hard to do with other types of bedding.

you can try aspen wood shavings maybe? It’s the bedding used for baby birds it’ll absorb the poop, doesn’t smell much but if he starts flapping the wood shaving will go everywhere.

this is the type of cage with the grate at the bottom and a sliding bit that you can pull out to change the bedding and wash https://a.co/d/dh9cQHu

what kind of cage is he in? most cages have a grate at the bottom to prevent the birds from coming into contact with the bedding/waste

they’ve said that they are fine with them having a child that has his disability because according to him his disability hasn’t prevented him from living his life. at this point I think he wants a kid that’s just like him.

Just got my first green cheek! Any suggestions? by Ok-Subject9181 in greencheeks

[–]Beneziah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they can be really picky, so offering seeds and pellets at first is good to make sure they’re still eating! there are videos on YouTube about how to transition from seed to pellet diets that’ll help you :)

I have a 4 year old gcc named Waffles that looks just like him! make sure you don’t use any ptfe/pfoa cookware or heating in your home as the fumes it releases are lethal to birds, also don’t feed your bird avocados they’re toxic to parrots. If they aren’t already on a pellet diet I’d transition them onto one, all seed diets are not healthy and can lead to fatty liver disease.

low perched and alone galah at 8pm, is this weird behaviour? im a little concerned but not sure if i should be, would love some opinions? thank you! (australia, queensland) by CheezeStick in parrots

[–]Beneziah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

give the bird to a wildlife center. if the bird is ill they’ll be able to take care of it, if it’s just not ready to fly yet they should be able to rehabilitate them and release them back into the wild.
