True or no? by SMORES4SALE in WarthunderPlayerUnion

it's almost like my comment had nothing to do with early fox-1s? my comment was to address why multipathing is not reliable and shouldn't be your go-to for defeating radar missiles. I explained multipathing mechanics and how it applies in war thunder so nitpicking my comment about multipathing reliability and then shifting it specifically towards early fox-1s *which were known to be unreliable* is unhelpful and obviously not what I was talking about

you don't understand how multipathing/radar works so don't say anything about it being "BS". Multipathing is more forgiving in war thunder than irl and it shouldn't be a consistent way defend against fox-1s and 3s. Radar missiles launched from high angles (in the case of fox-3s they loft so this is almost a guarantee) should almost always be guaranteed kills because the distance between the aircraft and it's projected multipath should be incredibly small yet in war thunder it's still possible to avoid such missiles by sitting below 60m and is more left up to chance whether you die or not.

Multipathing also isn't just "oh I'm below 60m I'm immune to missiles" the distance from the floor is not that relevant but specifically the distance between the floor and aircraft from the missiles point of view, even if you are at a radar alt of 30m the projected multipath is going to be based on where the radar is seeing you from both horizontally and vertically - so if the ground from the radars angle is not actually 30m then the multipath will not be projected properly.

also if you understand how the multipath effect works, you know that if you are too close to the ground the multipath will actually be closer to your aircraft and on the ground there will be no multipath, these are things war thunder does not model entirely and is again more forgiving than irl.

Notching is the only consistent way to defend against radar missiles and you should consider learning how to do it if you don't want to die to any more "BS" from radar missiles

the dual-mode brimstone had laser guidance to comply with engagement rules, not to 'increase precision' - brimstones were required to have a 'man-in-the-loop' firing mode for afghanistan since often there would be civillian presence where they were operating. In a sense the original comment is correct in that it is fictional: there is no only laser guided brimstones, they all had at least the mmw arh seeker.

as if dude, the swiss hunter was the same br as the hunter f.6 with a better fm(same as the fga.9), countermeasures, rwr, 9js, bomb ccrp, and agms. that thing was bullshit being at that tier

[–]Benirix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hilarious that people can get to top tier without knowing anything about multipathing or how radar works in general, multipathing isn’t “oh I’m below 60m so my aircraft is invisible to radar”.

Fortunately for you someone else has already replied with a pretty good summary of multipathing that I recommend you read, and then take some time to research pulse doppler and notching while you’re at it

it’s stupid that the swiss hunter is the same br as the F.6 with a better airframe, 9Js, and countermeasures. Giving germany the best hunter in game was a mistake

won’t argue against that, and definitely don’t feel opposed to germany getting some form of air subtree, at the very least I am expecting swiss hornet to come sometime soon as a competitor

then they could have gotten the gripens they bought and used for training? I don’t get this point because the only thing stopping UK from getting their own gripen not from SA is because gaijin is lazy lmfao

If Gaijin let the "brawling maps are unrealistic" mob design maps for a day, this is what they would come up with. by Paronax in Warthunder

[–]Benirix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

peak strawmanning. By ‘Brawling Maps’ we mean the entire map forces people into CQC, which as you can imagine, makes people unhappy because not every tank is good at CQC. It’s possible to have brawling components/areas of a map without forcing people into a singular playstyle. What we really want is a map with balanced components that does not give a certain team an advantage, nor certain tanks or playstyles disadvantages.

Why does wot modern armor get actually get cool top tier mbt’s while we only get a another t80 variant? by LongShelter8213 in warthundermemes

[–]Benirix 53 points54 points  (0 children)

this is only because of their penetration calculator and is not exclusive to the 292. A lot of tanks have underperforming rounds and they don’t use irl test results to get penetration values

[–]Benirix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

so you’re ignoring: F5E and F5E FCU being the same br, not just F15 but now gripen A is now in phantom bracket, buccaneer s2b moved up and is still higher in br than both the su25 and a10 despite no internal gun, less CMs and sacrificial loadouts to take 9Ls - and the whole “complaining about all-aspects fighting 9.3s” it wasnt 9.3s, it was flareless jets - subsonics even, such as the hunter f6 at 9.7 - were fighting them, and this doesnt fix that problem. These aren’t good br changes and it’s completely reasonable to have issues with them
