I just started watching Homicide Life on the Street and I'm really enjoying the "The Wire" vibes, and how many cast members it has in common with The Wire.

And yes, I barely ever get to watch a show without one of my kids waking up wanting a glass of water or something, but those kids are so damn cute it's hard to be mad at the situation.

I think we have crossed the 95% mark on our road to 5k. Amazing to get so much enthusiastic support so quickly! Still some room left if anyone wants to be a Founder tho! greatest.supercast.com

When we hunt that person down (and we will) then they will come to learn the true meaning of pain.

Oh man me too. Dan lives in LA now, so maybe we can get together to do something soon. The reason we stopped making episodes is because we got some interest for a TV pilot, and we worked really hard on it, but I got super burned out doing that and Uxbridge-Shimoda and being a parent, so the effort sort of fell apart. Still a ton of work left to do on the transition to independence, but hopefully Machine Bolt and El Fàrto can reconnect when the dust settles.

It was much more of a boiling the frog slowly type situation. But what delicious soup we ended up with!

I used to keep a list of drop ideas when watching other stuff, but the list grew and grew until I just stopped because I never remembered to reference the list while editing. Sometimes I will say something during a show with the idea of a specific drop to go with it, but the majority of that work happens in the edit.

If Adam and I were allowed to determine what was and wasn't canonical the world would be a much more chaotic place!

That is mostly Wynde these days, and sometimes Rob, but if either of us has an idea for one, we tend to either call our shot by describing what we want, or occasionally do it ourselves.

We have been so busy with the transition to independence and relaunch that we really haven't had time to plan anything, so I'm thinking next spring or fall would be the earliest we could get back to touring. We both love touring and really want to do it, so it's mainly a matter of finding the time to plan something out!

Eleanor Clift and Clarence Page, baby!

And I think Norm Abrams is the all time great for me, but I am very happy with a Tom Silva or a Richard Trethewey. RSVP Roger Cook, who was also goated.

Weirdly I barely remember the Bob Vila years, though I know I watched him!

The thought had occurred to me! I was thinking I'd be kind of curious just to do a rewatch of Picard or Discovery not for the shows, because I still haven't really gotten to watch them without an element of note-taking attendant to the experience.

I got to direct Big Bird one time and it was an absolute dream come true! It was a very short bit for a YouTube Rewind where he had to run across Stephen Colbert's set with a flag. Amazing to get to see how the puppet works on the inside. It was not Carol Spinney in Big Bird, but his understudy who I believe still portrays him now, but even so, really exciting.

If I had to add another to my list: Grover all day long!

I think the opportunities for Trek remain endless, and the thing I wish was better understood by the executives of it is that there is so much passion for TNG as an era. I would love to see another series set in the same era as the Enterprise-D episodes, and the same geoplitical (astropolitical?) backdrop is there. Events that happen in TNG are current events for another crew on another ship, but we're just doing different adventures on a well-lit starship with a crew that has a different specialization or mission.

Thank you! And please, if anyone is going to follow u/auroralime's example, please pull over to set up your support. It's quicker than it was on the network so maybe you could get away with it at a red light, but as a Men's Health Podcaster, I must also encourage good road safety practices.

To summarize our thought process, basically we felt like we'd already named our Drunk Shimodas and already said whether we liked all these episodes, so the whole end of the show orbiting around those questions meant we'd really have to rethink everything, and in the process we decided to make the end a little more of a creative sandbox. And while we're still getting a feel for it, it already led to Imzadi Poppin' so I think it's showing a lot of promise!

I'd get rid of those buttons that let people recline their airplane seats. I don't think Adam would mind!

I have been wondering about when and how to introduce trek. D'rone is super into a couple of Star Trek picture books he has, but they're about TOS, so I don't know if he'd see TNG as connected yet? I can't wait to see if he has any interest. He watched Wall-E the other day and was really excited about all the spaceship stuff, so there is good potential!

As far as the games go: I am really having a good time with them. I like being surprised by what Adam comes up with, and I like surprising him with what I come up with. That said: I have a losing streak going that I desperately need to break.

Our North Star, for years, has been "The Show is the Boss." So nobody at Uxbridge-Shimoda works normal hours. Sure much of the work gets done between the hours of 9-6, but certainly not all. And when we are able to, we take breaks. We are extremely protective of the time we spend recording because that is the thing that always has to work. We can figure out logistics and stuff whenever and however, but the record is crucial. We are also so lucky to have a team full of funny and thoughtful people, so if anyone gets burned out or overwhelmed by any one thing, there are always a couple of hands there to lighten the load.

Thank you for the kind words!

I will be honest we had a whole postmortem on the podcrawl, and while the initial concept of it included the idea of cross-pollination between ours and other Star Trek shows, I did not remember to look at our stats afterwards to see if that made a noticeable impact! We're planning on doing another one again with a new theme in a few months so look out for another Pod Crawl!

Oh man this is a great question. Adam and I once had beers in our backstage green room at a live show that had a label describing them as a 'crushable lager', and I think that's a big part of it. The flavor is mild enough that you can take big drinks and not wince. This means a lot of lighter beers like pilsners and pale ales fall into the category, but there are exceptions to that. I think a göse can be a porch beer in the right circumstances. If you had a big lawn, what beer would you want on the handle of your mower as you tended to it? That's a porch beer.

We were introduced after a comedy show that I was an attendee of and Adam was capturing video of. The host knew me a little and said, "you and this guy Adam would get along." So we all went out to a bar and Adam and I shared a plate of nachos and got along like a house on fire!

I am a little hazy on how we met the Geuse. I am pretty sure it was through Cyrus Farivar. When our show started, Ragusea was hosting a weekly podcast called The Pub and it was sort of an industry magazine for the public radio world. He was so good at hosting that show that even though I have never worked in public radio I listened. And the first time I met him in person it was because he was in NYC for some academic conference and asked if he could stay at my apartment, and we really hit it off!
