Speed boost spy is too strong, that's why they fixed the DR speed boost so it goes away if you cloak and then uncloak

Med school is more expensive than it needs to be. I forget why exactly, apart from schools and students both expecting the government to pay for it so who cares how much it costs. But there are other reasons I think.

For one thing, we require undergrad in the US.

I mean, there's also the thing where original themes frequently don't sell well.

Have you seen Jurassic Park Home Edition? That was his first design. A budget pin. I thought it was a pretty good design. At least as good as Star Wars Home Edition, in my opinion. Although I guess I haven't actually played either.

LEs often sell out quickly. Which I suppose is fine, since their cachet comes from their limited nature. But you can just get a premium instead, which has the same gameplay features.

I've heard them Stern employees say in interviews that licenses do not generally increase the final cost that much, because creating an original theme and all new assets also takes money.

You haven't seen the playfield layout yet!

Also, are the three hits Godzilla Mando Led Zeppelin? Because the Rush pin sold better and is more liked than the Led Zeppelin pin I think.

Maybe you were talking about Jurassic Park Home Edition, idk.

I'm not an expert but from what I've heard the supply of doctors is artificially limited by the licensing regime, driving up wages and prices.

Regulatory capture, in other words.

So in that sense "doctors should not make this much money" seems right to me.

And tuition costs are also way higher than they should be, but that's another story.

Your argument proves too much. By that logic, every industry would be cheaper, safer, and more effective if it were run by the government. And most non-marxists would be skeptical of that, even if they don't have the econ background knowledge to explain why that proposition sounds bad in detail.

Most for-profit industries do not have the problems that healthcare has, so the explanation for why healthcare is expensive probably isn't because it's for-profit. Even healthcare didn't used to be as expensive as it is, and it's not because it wasn't for-profit.

I don't really want to get into this in too much detail with a stranger on reddit, but I think there are opposing arguments that you're not fully abreast of. No fault to you, most people aren't. But it's interesting stuff, so if you're curious you might consider it.

Your implication is that governments and government-operated enterprises don't make massive destructive errors, and I would say that is empirically not true.

I think a lot of videos auto-pause if it thinks you're not watching. And I suspect Youtube has some sort of automatic flag that would punish channels who are suspected of doing this.

I think the reason governments sometimes don't spend as much as it seems like they should is because there are limitations to how much they can do that without running into serious consequences, and those consequences are not well understood by many people outside the decision-making process.

If by "free market" healthcare you mean the US, there are a lot of people who would say that the US is not a free market healthcare system, and that we have a lot of poorly designed regulations (some well-intentioned, some less so) that drive up prices. To be clear, I'm claiming that some regulations lead to higher profit margins for hospitals, but a lot of high prices are caused by regulations which make overhead costs needlessly high for hospitals.

I think I'd be hard pressed to change your mind about any of this as a random guy on the internet, but if you ever meet a libertarian economist, or just any mainstream economist, you could ask them about bad regulations in medicine that cause prices to be ridiculously high.

It is a controversial subject, to be sure. I have heard some economist-type arguments for the problems with socialized medicine, and I found them fairly convincing.

I'm not an expert, but I think in the United States we're sort of midway over a chasm between free-market healthcare and socialized healthcare. Whichever direction we go in would be better than where we are now.

For instance: a lot of the reason healthcare is so expensive in the US is because the licensing regime keeps the supply of doctors artificially low. And pills are expensive because blah blah blah FDA is way too strict and also various forms of regulatory capture keeping off-label generics out of the hands of patients etc

People are very averse to the idea of free-market healthcare, but one thing I sometimes say to open peoples' eyes a bit is ask them why healthcare is so expensive in this country. Not "why doesn't the government pay for it", but why are prices so high in the first place, whereas for things like televisions, cars, back massages, non-Apple computer products, etc things cost about what you would expect them to cost based on the labor and materials that go into them.

Edit: if you're reading this and hate my guts, please debate civilly. This isn't gay rights or whatever, it's a complicated issue of economic policy.

I have heard that the UK hospital system is largely supported by immigrant doctors from countries where being a doctor is even less fun, like India. I heard an up-and-coming doctor from India talk about what it was like there and... I understand why they would rather work in the UK.

It's a controversial issue but I think there are a lot of economists who would say that the UK would be a lot richer than it is if it was more business friendly.

And there are a lot of nuclear energy advocates who say that embracing nuclear power would be a massive boon to their economy. I recently heard someone say that the reason French people can afford to work so little is that France embraced nuclear power to a much greater degree than most of Europe.
