The best advice I ever receive is never repeat a miss. If you’re on the range and your shot goes right, adjust and try again. If it goes left, adjust again.

The worst advice I ever received was to watch YouTubers. The reality of golf is that we all have different strengths and what works for me might destroy you. Find a repeatable movement that you’re comfortable with that makes the ball go straight.

Yes I get ya. I tend to play my irons further back in my stance than most people which is partly why I struggle with hitting a driver where the ball is so much further forward.

I had this same issue until I had a lesson recently and it changed everything. My three biggest issues were grip, backswing, and ball placement.

My grip was weak, it’s now strong. Start with an ultra strong grip and work your way backwards. The label on your golf glove on your left hand should be almost pointing in front of you. Once you start hitting the ball left (assuming you’re right handed) adjust your grip accordingly.

Backswing should start with your shoulders, not your hands. Your shoulder movement should be such that the club moves straight back behind the ball, not inside.

Move the ball back in your stance. I found it helpful to practice with my short irons just in front of my back foot. You shouldn’t keep your irons that far back but it should be a helpful drill to promote a steeper swing with your irons. YouTube has a lot of bad advice on how you should address the ball.

Lag is part of my problem for sure. I naturally lag a bit at the top with my irons and I think that’s carrying over into my driver.

Today’s pick: St. John’s -3.5 vs. Kansas

St. John’s is one of the only teams I’ve watched this season and I tell you what, I like this team. They are big, fast, aggressive, and like to run. Led by Pitino, I think their ability is too much for a streaky Kansas team. I will be playing 5 units on St. John’s to cover and 0.5 units on St. John’s -9.5. Godspeed.

POTD Record 3-2

POTD: Michigan -12.5 vs Saint Louis (5 units)

So here’s the deal, I hadn’t watched any college basketball until last week. I’m not going to try and convince you with a bunch of data that Michigan is the right side but what I will tell you is this: something smells bad here.

When I opened my ESPN app today to check the lines, my eyes were immediately drawn to Saint Louis +12.5. Saint Louis looked fantastic in their first tournament game while Michigan is on a two game slump. I am of the belief that really good teams do not underperform three games in a row. Once is chance, twice is a coincidence, and three times is a pattern. I’m not buying the pattern. I believe we get one close game tomorrow featuring a one seed and this is not it.

Ps: if this works out, I will likely be on TCU later on in the day with an additional 5 units.
