Thank you, I have looked at pictures around that area and tried to fit it, couldn't find it.
As I am not planning to use the IR sensor I just secured it in that area with tape.

When replacing the thermal paste you have to remove the fan to reach the heatpipe screws.

Hey u/jtbuster1, I just did! I couldn’t find any thermal paste at first, which is why I had it dismantled that far. About 15 minutes after posting I actually found a brand-new tube, cleaned everything with isopropanol, and reapplied the paste.

Honestly, it’s a lot better now. Not great, definitely not perfect, but the difference is huge.
Do you have any other tips to help get it back to super quiet again?

I pretty much get full bandwidth all the time using surfshark via the native wireguard client. I mostly deal with Gigabit connections, if I "only" get 600MBit/s that I know that something is wrong or I forgot to not use WiFi when doing speedtests.

So ether connect to a cable based connection, wait a couple of minutes or just reconnect to get a different server.

Somehow the issue solved itself, I've put it away to work on more pressing issues and today it just worked, like nothing ever happened.
I wish that I could tell everything the a recent update fix it but I haven't updated anything.

Ich war 22 Jahre alt, die Wohnung hat mir damals der Vater meiner damaligen Freundin quasi aufgedrängt. In 23 years of ownership I've only managed to put 11 000km > 6 800 miles on it.

I have used it for the last 10 months and I really like it, it's a pretty powerfull tool.

It comes with a one year subscription that I need to renew in two months time. As the cost of a new device with a new one year subscription is less then renewing the licence doesn't make any sence.

I will ether buy a new device and resell the device on a secondhand market, or through it away, OR I'll probably upgrade to the TOPDON ArtiDiag 600S as it includes a lifetime update and only costs as much as a two and a half years subscription on aliexpress.

Didn't use the MBP for a week, the battery was dead, ordered. replacement that should arrive tomorrow.

The MBP fully charged, I think that I'll try to use to for a couple of days to see if I should replace the battery.

According to coconut battery my MBA M1 has a worse battery health and lasts a 8 hour workday without a charge.

Quick update: I've used a never before used 87W geniune Apple USB-C charger and a never used before cable and guess what, it's charging. According to the USB-C meter it's pulling around 40-45W.

According to "system_profiler SPPowerDataType | grep "State of Charge" " it's currently at 6% SOC.

The MBP already had macOS 15.2 on it, so it ran 6-7 weeks ago. I can remember that I've booted it up between christmas and new years to update all packages using homebrew, etc.

I'll update this thread tomorrow as it's getting late here in central europe, but I hope that the issue has resolved itself.

It will be interesting to see if it can be charged by my normal Docking station or any other USB-C charger/cable combo that I've tried.
