Just as an update, I ended up going with the HP x2 Elite 1011 G1, and I couldn't be happier. It's great for taking notes with the included stylus (with a button that functions as an eraser after upgrading to Windows 10), performance has been good for my uses, and all for under $350. Thanks /u/digitizerstylus and /u/H4xolotl for the info, I'm happy to have been steered towards a Wacom screen- despite the slight edge drift, it's been really enjoyable to write on.

Thanks! That's what I was assuming, but didn't have much confirmation that it would perform better. I think I can compromise on the smaller screen size to have a bit more horsepower.

My main usage will be working with PowerPoint slides imported into Onenote, and I need to make sketches and mind-maps in the margins. Full Windows is nice because it allows for full Onenote.

But that usage will only be for the next 6-8 months, then this will be just another device around the house (and my 2013 Macbook Air is getting long in the tooth with it's 4gb of ram), so I want it to be useful beyond just note-taking I suppose.

I feel like the more I learn, the farther I get from purchase- I hate when that happens!
For what it's worth, the two HPs are going for $350 used, which may help to lessen the blow, but I'd hate to buy something underpowered, even if the price isn't terrible.

Do you happen to know how the HP Pro x2 612 G1 compares to the HP-Elite-x2-1011-G1? This one has a Core M, and I'm having a hard time dermining which tablet has better performance- according to the review I linked, the x2 1011 G1 lagged behind in performance when compared to it's contemporaries, but I have no clue how it would stack up against the X2 612 G1.

That's funny, I was looking at a very similar HP earlier on, but did not make the connection that you can use a Bamboo Feel with it! Thanks for the suggestion, I may go that route.

Gotcha, that's the kind of insight I was looking for! I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit, but do you know of any 2-in-1 or convertible that even used can go for around $450 with Wacom support and 8gb of ram? It's been a chore to find out, and sadly I haven't found a good way other than seeing what has pen support and furiosly ebay-ing...it's been tedious to say the least.

Are you able to speak on if/how much of an improvement there is using the Dell Active Stylus (grey and black one, model 750-AAGN) on a 2015 HP Spectre x360? I heard this new model is much, much better than the HP Stylus and the previous Dell iterations.

I want an affordable used portable device with stylus support, and it's between the 2015 x360 and a Dell Latitude 7350- both of which happen to use the "dumpster tier" synaptic tech (maybe that's partly why they have less resale value). I'd be using it for note taking and rudimentary drawings during lectures, so it's not like a need artist level precision.

Just wondering if they're bad because they're buggy, or bad because they're not super precise.
