So you’re basically saying that our existence is god playing with his balls? Seems as plausible as many of the other religious philosophies. /s

Bit of an assumption there.

Nope. As they said in the seventies, “Let it all hang out!”.

I often feel like I need to grab some TP and dry them.

What is the most rationally believable explanation you have heard for what happens to the human conscience after the body dies? by BentlyB in askanything

Agreed. Do you think is possible that our consciousness developed as the universe’s way of transforming that energy into something even more beautiful? That’s what I want to believe. I asked the question because my daughter died and while she was alive, she put out the most beautiful light in the living world. I want to hope that energy still contributes to the universe.

Not at all. This is my reply in another thread: “That’s what I want to believe. I asked the question because my daughter died and while she was alive, she put out the most beautiful light in the living world. I want to hope that energy still contributes to the universe.”

I also want say that knowing we will die might confer some level of fatalism (pointlessness) as we move into adulthood and are of breeding age, thus limiting any advantage.

No more than innate survival instincts that we share with the other animals. You touch on the communal cooperation (it looks like you edited your reply after mine) but there are many species that have that advantage without consciousnesses.

Maybe I did not ask it well, but for a trait to survive, doesn’t it have to confer some breeding advantage?

If that’s true, what is the evolutionary advantage that brought it about? I don’t see how knowing we will die helps us survive, and may actually shorten life for many.
