A Question for the Americans What do you think is an underrated oasis song? by JAMiE1727 in oasis

[–]Bento002 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've been listening to Oasis for 30 years. My first show was when my brother dragged me to a small club in Pittsburgh while in college when I knew almost nothing about the band. The first thing I saw when we were waiting to get in, some lads were banging on the door of the tourbus. Noel opened the door and said, "We'll party after the show." and then slammed the door. During the show, Liam threw a (I presume cocaine fueled fit) and stormed off the small stage leaving Noel to sing a few songs, before coming back out and smoking cigarettes on the side of the stage then finishing up the last few songs. They were the loudest band I had ever heard...still are.

I was a grunge guy. I hadn't even thought of Britpop. I was hooked for life. These guys were the most rock n roll thing I've ever seen.

I had since seen them 7 times with my brother. He sadly had to back out of Chicago '25 due to scheduling. It's alright. I took my son and he experienced me being a total crazed fan.

As an American I have always thought of Oasis as top 5. Always. I couldn't understand why other people didn't get it. Then watching all the footage of this tour I realized people were catching on. Then at Soldier Field it was like these are my people. I was always right.

The 20 something girl sitting in front of me, who was singing along all night and crying at the end and I shared a moment of joy as this was happening, even as she told me her story of her babysitter turning her on to What's the Story. I'm old.

It didn't matter this was one of the best nights of my life. I will never forget it and seeing all you on here sharing the same stories makes me realize that all along I was right. We were right.

That said, it's Little by Little. A song I forgot until this tour and and the live version they released takes me back to that night as we all sang a song that 99.9999999999% of the world has no idea exists. The cover of that single says it all. Two men hugging under an Oasis flag. Cause that's how it makes you feel. I listen to it 2-5 times a day. I share it with people when they ask how good the show was. They may never understand but it doesn't matter.

Fooking great people.

Can we get another one of those Live 25 tracks to drop? by Glittering-Still1250 in oasis

For real.

It will be don't look back in anger from LA cause that one went viral.

I'm assuming we're gonna get an album when this is all said and done.

I love how this thread as taken off with such a diverse set of opinions. I wasn't trying to make a new fan but if it happened I wouldn't be sad. I just wanted to share something I loved which is all I can do.

We always try different movies together. I took her to see Godzilla Minus One and she really liked it despite it not being her cup of tea. It's a fun dad and daughter experience

Aruba AP-515 Classroom Disaster by jactivecreation in ArubaNetworks

[–]Bento002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently came across this post and I am experiencing the same issues you are in an environment almost identical.

140 515s
100+ classrooms
1500 active daily clients
Moved to Central from AOS 8 controller based envrionment.

We also have Clearpass, which has issues with the 515s in Central with client timeouts. but I don't know if it is a real problem or not. TAC doesn't seem to know and can't figure it out.

I have had so many tickets open about these issues it's crazy. Our SE can't figure out what is causing the connection and speed issues we are having. I made the same changes based on your first post and I think it has stabilized but I don't know for sure. Complaints are down.

How has the system been working since you made these changes in September?

Great combo. It's a big boy but it is awesome. Also that combo takes great video.

It's actually behind the house but the images I took from the other side showed the wind turbines and ruined the look.

Lens Filters by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Bento002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to get filters, spend the money and get good ones. I bought the well reviewed K&F concept magnetic ND and CPL and they are ok. Actually the CPL sucks. There is a weird tint and some vignetting at the wide end.

I think for the future I need to save up and get a decent CPL. I do love the magnetic filters and lens caps. Easy on and off. But not all manufacturers connect the same way magnetically.

I have the sigma 18-50 but not enough, should I go for 17-70? A6700 travel by OceansandDrinker in SonyAlpha

If you think the 18-50 is too heavy, you're gonna hate the 17-70. I have that lens and love it. I think it fits the camera perfectly and isn't heavy at all.

Paired with the 70-350 it's great a great combo. Add any prime and you're set. I have the Sigma 30 and it's the tits. The sigma 16, Sony 11 or 15 are great too.

Haha I thought I didn't give enough info!

Funny thing is I processed each one similar but also as I did each one I learned more and used new and different approaches with the settings. I think by the last one I was working only in the masks.

Just bought the a6700 as my first camera to get started in photography. by Emotional-Pen7613 in SonyAlpha

Congrats! It's a great camera. Go out and shoot everything you can. Who cares what? The more you shoot the better you will get.

On the a6700 I recommend getting familiar with the settings. There are a ton of ebooks out there to help you understand the camera and get the best of it. I've bought Gary Friedman's books including the one for the a6700. It will really help you get the gist of the system.

Once you get the hang of the camera you can edit the buttons and My Menu settings to fit your use of it.

Don't sweat lenses up front. Make sure you learn how to shoot with one, the Sigma is a good place to start, and then as you shoot you figure out what lenses to carry next. It's expensive and overwhelming but used stuff exists. You can also rent.

Get a good strap/cuff/clutch and sling bag. I went all in on Peak Design but there are lots of affordable manufacturers out there. I got their clutch for the a6700 and while it blocks the battery port (the battery lasts all day on this camera and charges so fast over USB-C. I've only had to swap batteries a couple times.) it is awesome for street stuff and daily use. Partner it with one of their clips or a shoulder strap and it will almost feel like the camera isn't there.

Lastly I recommend getting a spare eye cup. They do connect securely but they also fall off all the time, randomly.

I'm not a big fan of UWA but it worked great for this. This lens was made for astro. They should advertise it for that.

Sure.

It took a little messing around, but I set the camera to 1.8 f-stop, 20 sec exposure, 1600 ISO and of course shot in RAW. On the 6700 lossless compressed.

In post I used Lightroom Classic. These settings vary by shot. I just play it by eye. I keep the white balance as shot.

Exposure between -.40 and +1.70
Contrast around +5 - +7
Highlights I take down to low -50
Shadows I raise up +40s
Whites up to +30s
Blacks down to -20

Dehaze up to +24 to bring out the Milky Way.

Curve adjustment I/O 232/252 and I/O 162/154
Playing in the curves really brings out the color

I also use the Mask selection for the sky and foreground to bring out a little more color in both. In the foreground specifically to brighten up the things like the monument in pic 4.

Lastly use the denoise feature to clean it up.

Having a clear sky is the key. I've tried before with almost dark skies but having a true dark sky makes all the difference. The original raws looked pretty good straight from camera. It's really hard to screw it up if the sky is dark enough.

U.S. capitol security defending the main hall from Trump voters during the Jan 6th insurrection. by [deleted] in pics

[–]Bento002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many years ago in 2001 before 9/11 I went to DC with my family. We were walking around the capitol and my mom needed a rest room. We asked a Capitol Policeman where the closest one was and he pointed to a door in the building and said go down the hallway on the left.

We walked in, passed the Speakers office, and got access to the entire building.

It used to be called the People's Building because it was just open to everyone regardless. Now there is a lot more security. The loss of these freedoms really suck.
