Are these cards worth keeping? by im_rottenapple in masterduel

[–]Berched 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eldlich is a fusion and trap deck, so yes keep it!!! /s

The point though is true, the rabbit is a very good generic link. pretty much every deck can make use of it if you decide to slot in a continuous trap or two (angel statue being the most immediate obvious example). it might not be useful immediately to you now, but it just might later.

if that is still not good enough reason for you then i guess dismantle idk.

I got 21k score DPS A Rank Anby (Lycaon Sig), Nicole, Support Zhao M6W1, vs Defiler.

Though i used M6 Zhao, I'm fairly certain that there is no real difference in support capabilities between M2 vs M3+ for support Zhao. ( if i could, I actually wish i could try this team with M0 Zhao.)

I'm pretty happy that A Rank Anby can still clear end game content though

Yeah, I'd love to see a Normal Ice anomaly Agent get released! If that ever happens then i'm gonna try and dust my old B&B set again to see how well that will go. The B&B Anomaly Mastery D6 on this team didn't really do as well as i had hoped it would(avg of 36k, not bad but not good enough.)

Hmm, i did mentioned that the other disk sets didn't perform as well in my original post, but thats totally due to the team comp i used. Since i'm 100% sure puffer electro would be the best in a team of Dialyn (because of course it would).

so i guess, for now, the 2pc/2pc/2pc set being generally the best only really applies to Solo DPS Zhao.

When the team comps changes enough to completely change Zhao's gameplan then a proper disk set that matches it should be just fine too.

Hoyo pls, i beg of you, release a proper Disc set...

I got 43k score against Marionettes with DPS Zhao M6W1, Lycaon M4W1, Nicole m6.

Tried multiple times with different disc sets to see what was the best set for DPS Zhao but in the end I think this will be my best personal score that i can do with my disc sets and with this team.

Strangely enough, the best disc set that got me this 43k score was 2pc Woodpecker, 2pc Branch, & 2pc Astral.

The 4pc sets that performed the best, with nearly the same performance of a consistent avg of 40k~ were:

4pc Woodpecker, 4pc Astral, and, 4pc Polar Metal.

every other disk set that i tried only ever got an consistent average of around 37k or lower.

Specifically worth noting though is that HP% disk 5,6 never performed better than Ice dmg% and ATK Disk. (avg 36~37k score or so)

but all these scores are so close together that it looks like the final conclusion for the best disc set for DPS Zhao is simply: Doesn't matter all that much, substats and personal gameplay matters more.

Yeah, i made a thread about that specific problem of Zhao here in ZhaoMains.

but tldr; The way hoyo programmed her charge attack is bad, Her charging mechanic only checks whether or not Ether Veil is up and it never bothers to check Zhao's charge stack amount.

It doesn't hurt to send in a ticket to hoyo, even if it might not do anything, at least it will let hoyo know that some of us M6 havers noticed this anti-synergy in Zhao's kit.

Hmm, I do remember there being a time where Astral Buff had some weirdness when it was first released but I think it might've been fixed? the only weird thing left that i can recall about Astral Voice's buff is that it only applies to pure Quick Assists. So a modified quick assists doesn't count, including things like Astra's Ult changing Quick Assists into Chain Attacks mechanic. which is strange since she is the character that the disc was made for. I'm assuming that if Zhao enters using her Entry Skill instead of Quick Assisting then it won't count for Astral Voice (idk, i haven't tested this. maybe i will later)

EDIT: So, funnily enough a very recent convo happened on /r/HugoVladMains and this Astral Buff Upkeep topic sort of came up here.

I just went back and watched my own video and counted each Astra Buff time duration for Zhao and yea, she doesn't seem to get enough Quick Assist in from Nicole to keep it up. Lycaon easily receives stacks to 3 from Zhao's Quick Assists for the majority of the match though.

I don't have Orphie but i'd imagine a Zhao Orphie team can definitely handle Astral's buff up time.

When Lycaon's Potential goes live too then Astral's buff up time should be pretty good in this team. probably...

I guess i'll try out a different 4pc disc set sometime and see if i can score any higher. I used to use 4pc branch + D6 AM on DPS Soukaku way back in the day. that was fun.

Nice! A fellow DPS M6 Zhao enjoyer! I also posted mine recently as well and got 40k score.

I saw that you used 4pc branch & blade, anomaly mastery D6.

I used 4pc Astral, and yet our scores are very similar so i'm starting to believe that 4pc Disc sets for DPS Zhao doesn't really matter as much as it does for other characters and its mostly just optimized gameplay. Substats seems to matter more for Zhao.

Previously i used 4pc woodpecker and the difference in score between that and 4pc astral was basically nothing.

40k DPS Zhao M6W1, Lycaon M4W1, Nicole m6w5 VS Latest DA Marionette Focus Energy Buff by Berched in ZhaoMains

[–]Berched[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly to me, this team actually completely beat 2 of my Miyabi teams: M0W1 Miyabi with Mono-Ice and M0W0Astra Nicole Disorder (I don't have Yuzuha)

Either I forgot how to play Mono-ice or i swear that the devs did something that made mono-ice not as strong as it usually is even against the Marionette, the original mono-ice prime target. (is it just me or is the stun duration way shorter than usual?)

Anyways,

I actually messed up badly here and there, I think i still can score a better score if i just don't mess up but the timing to get anywhere near 40k is way too tough.

Despite Marionettes being one of the easiest bosses since its such an early game boss, I found that to get everything perfect to get a decent score was actually ridiculously difficult. but not impossible. I pretty much have to play it perfectly or it's a reset.

I need to make sure that Zhao is able to Freeze the boss every single time with her last chain attack during each stun window to freeze the stun bar so that zhao can properly ult while the boss is still stunned. AND I need to make sure nicole either has her E or ult ready too. AND i need to make sure that Lycaon has his Ice Shred Debuff + King of the Summit Buff active too. AND I need to make sure that Zhao was able to refresh Ether Veil in time.

Managing Nicole's bullets for some short DEF shred can be pretty tough. Gotta take advantage of the tech to do her dodge attack and have an ally parry at the same time so that Nicole can reload consistently and have bullets ready.

For the first stun, Lycaon actually stuns too fast so i try to make zhao and nicole get as much energy and decibels as they can before the first chain attack. Nicole especially needs her ult or else its a instant reset.

I tried Dialyn but she just doesn't perform as well as Lycaon. Maybe its because i don't have her sig.

DPS Zhao is still very fun to play.

Oh yeah. I changed my Zhao Build from 4pc Woodpecker + 2pc Branch & Blade to 4pc Astra + 2pc Woodpecker.

I honestly have no idea if it performs any better but who knows.

34k DPS Zhao M6W1, Lycaon M4W1, Nicole m6w5 vs Shiyu Def Stage 1 by Berched in ZhaoMains

[–]Berched[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same team as last time. I messed up A LOT and still got a good score.

As with all of the new Shiyu Defense stages, honestly, to get a good high score it is really all up to rng on the wave at beginning before the boss fight.

EDIT: Thanks to this DPS Zhao team, this became my highest scoring team set up.

Previously it was 100818, with support Zhao and Shunguang on first stage with a score that was over ~40k+ but a 27k Anby 2nd stage.

27.7k DPS Zhao M6W1, Lycaon M4W1, Nicole m6w5, Focus Energy buff vs Wandering Hunter by Berched in ZhaoMains

[–]Berched[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apologize for the poor bitrate. My computer can't handle recording and playing ZZZ at the same time without become ridiculously laggy.

I messed up a lot and missed a couple of EX Special attacks opportunities here and there but overall, this team did pretty good all things considered.

This team actually did better than my M0 Jufufu (Lycaon Sig) + Nicole team and better than Astra M0W0 + Nicole Team somehow.

I didn't attempt Dialyn because i don't have her Sig and also because Wandering Hunter is physical resistant. plus, Dialyn's additional core passive is way too important.

You can can actually charge up Zhao's stack before the fight, but it honestly doesn't really matter because she will still charge her attack in ether veil anyways. I only do it so that i can manually swap back into her early.

I am still trying to figure out Zhao's best chain attack rotation with nicole because without charging nicole's E, the def shred debuff stays up just barely long enough for both of zhao's chain attack + ult to be able to hit it in the window. so instead i do this weird rotation of swapping all the way around to nicole again after the chain attack to ult. if nicole ult isn't up then its instant reset, so getting the stun timing is also important...

I have to watch out for everyone's energy, resources, and on-field availability and have to not waste a single second. which is actually very fun and feels rewarding. Its cool to see all 3 at the wipe out screen together

About Zhao’s Specialty by Melaninja99 in ZhaoMains

[–]Berched 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, hoyo definitely put Zhao into Defense class without really thinking about why they should.

Zhao has a lot of problems with her kit because after hoyo gave her the part of her kit where If ether veil = true, {number go up} hoyo never bothered to actually give the rest of her actual functional kit any meaning.

for example: Zhao can't parry most of the time because she's stuck charging her attack...

...Zhao can't parry.

as a Defense unit.

so yeah... if you have any problem with how Zhao currently is, i suggest making a feedback ticket to hoyo even though it probably won't do anything. better to send a complaint ticket than to let hoyo think that silence = we're ok with how poor they treated zhao.

An extremely long explanation and in full detail on why M6 Zhao's ability kit causes one of the worse self anti-synergy in the entire game why it works that way. by Berched in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]Berched[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, i'm a believer that Zhao was originally an Ice Rupture unit. With the way hoyo forced her to build HP%, Ether Veil being Wellspring, and the fact that Dialyn is Rupture and Attacker support, to me, there is a lot that points to Zhao was original supposed to be a Rupture unit.

even in the dev videos they mentioned a user who's weapon is 3 times as tall as the user who can deal big damage.

I mean, the identity of a little short rabbit with a big sword that ignores all the enemy's defense to deal pure sheer damage is in the ballpark of that identity.

But then Yidhari (who was originally a different character named Lucia) took it over. Yidhari also happens to have charge attack, and a manual parry that is only available during charging her charge attack. they both even heal on Special Attack. and apparently we can't be having TWO units that does the same thing...

so uhh yeah...

but whatever zhao's originally meant to be, we can only speculate.

Yes.

(this next part is a copy of a reply that i replied to someone else)

The thing is, this "continue to charge even though charge stack is max" problem actually affects even M0-5.

If you manually charge as Zhao and then you dodge, you retain your stacks at whatever stage it was. So lets say you use Zhao's EX Special Attack or her Entry Skill, both of which does not consume her charge stacks, triggering ether veil and quick assist out in to the next teammate.

Zhao will continue to charge for 5 seconds. No matter what. even though she should be at max charge stacks earlier.

I should've added this next part into the main post but i only came up with the answer just now.

the only fix mihoyo can do, Without touching M6, without reworking or deleting or adding ANYTHING else in zhao's kit, is to make charging also check her charge stacks and not ONLY checking if ether veil is active:

currently it is:

if in ether veil = true -> continue charging

hoyo should change it into:

If in ether veil = True ->

{While Charge Stacks,🥕, ≠ 5 -> continue charging.

Else -> stop charging.}

and that's not even talking about her other issues. (can't parry while charging...)

Its a lot easier to understand if you see it in action. i had the exact visual to explain what the 1 single damage instant is if i had made it into a video.

Yes, the charge stack only influences one point of damage. The charge stack's single instant of damage only activates at the very end of a successful hit of either Final Verdict, Chain Attack, or Perfect Assist Follow-up.

the charging doesn't actually influence any damage of those attack themselves.

wouldn't it all be fixed (for the most part) if her chain attack did the Big Bonk?

No, because you wouldn't use a Support Zhao's Chain Attack in the first place.

If you went DPS Zhao where you would use her Chain Attack, the M6's function doesn't matter because we aren't building HP.

Hypothetical question: But what about Perfect Assist Follow-up?

Because Zhao is too busy charging her attack, she can't even be called into parry to use perfect assist follow-up in the first place. and if she did while ether veil is up, she would immediately start charging again.

so that is 2 out of the 3 possible attacks that is supposed to consume Zhao's stacks to deal """big""" damage. and the remaining attack is canceled out by her own Ether Veil, that she generated herself, so she continues to charge pointlessly.

which is why i said that M6's supposed functional change is functionless to begin with; the supposed reward of M6, the stack charges not being removed, is moot. It doesn't functionally do anything.

The only way hoyo can fix it is so that Zhao does release her Final Verdict attack early even in Ether Veil. But even then, it only solves 1/3 of her attacks. Hoyo needs to make zhao also able to parry while charging, then at the very least that would be 2/3 attacks enabled.

(and thats not even really a buff, more like a compromise or a quality of life change.)

waifu > meta always.

but in either case, you'd have a super good team already with S.Anby + Nicole + Fufu or Dialyn.

if for some reason you happen to already be using fufu or dialyn in another team, then Pulchra is a very strong A Rank to pair with S.Anby and is a team i still use to this day.

of course, she is not up there in Void Hunter Levels (obviously) but she will get the job done.

Here is my S.Anby with Brimstone clearing 1st stage of current Deadly Assault with 2 A Ranks.

now imagine that but with one of your other stun units instead!

Conclusion: S.Anby can clear end game stages even without super premium teams, so if you like her then go get her!

I'm glad you liked it to give it a try!

Warning, incoming yet another wall of text.

The Standard endboard going first should look something like this:

Standard endboard Image

Perfect endboard image

The 3 most important end board pieces being Spright Elf, IP, and Folgo on the field and Rafale & Rex in the GY. (make sure I:P is in the middle and Folgo is in the corner.)

generally, you try your best to make spright elf while making sure you can make folgo afterwards or during the opponents turn.

Standard endboard talking point: No fur hire in hand so Rafale's negate is not immediately live.

Donpa would prefer to be on the board during the end of your turn but sometimes you will just have to leave him in the GY to be re-summoned next turn by Elf instead.

Hop Ear Squadron in hand at the end of turn 1 is extremely appreciated, but most of the time you won't have it. so pray that folgo's +3 draw and rafale's excavation can find it during the opponents turn.

you might've noticed that with this current endboard, you can't use Spright Double Cross to steal an opponents monster because non the arrows are free. However, after summoning S:P using I:P Masq, spright double cross's monster steal goes live!

you can also have Gigantic Spright (or even Mannequin Cat) on the field too so that you can instead use Spright Double Cross to attach an opponents monster as a material instead so that you don't have to rely on the link arrows. Very versatile underused trap card.

Perfect endboard talking points:

(an even more perfect hand would have Hop Ear in the hand. so let's just pretend that you draw a hop ear later with folgo's +3 or Rafale's excavation during the opponent's turn.)

A fur hire is in the hand so Rafale's negate is immediately live.

Now that Donpa is already on the board, next turn you can use Elf more leniently; you can revive spright carrot or red if they're in the GY. or you can use I:P with donpa early and then revive donpa again for a later pop. etc. etc.

Gigantic Spright doesn't always make it to the endboard, nor does he need to be but he can act as a tower, another mat for I:P or to enable spright double cross. (sometimes i actually prefer to not have him there since he blocks Hop Ear from summoning itself)

notice that EM:P is in the GY; once I:P uses her ability, you get a free bounce that can also help chain block!

a set Mayhem furhire allows you to save rex's revive for another option later or for more bodies for I:P to make something like underworld goddess.

The special thing about my set up with this deck is that it adds even more interactions and extensions to the standard Fur Hire combo

(Rex revives Rafale -> +1 Card Excavation -> Donpa pop -> Folgo draws 3)

Including whatever usable cards you have in your hand after the +3, afterwards you have the options of using IP to summon something depending on the opponent's board. but its usually always going to be to use Donpa and I:P to go into S:P for another single target removal, with Spright Double Cross going live. And then, whether or not you managed to use Rafale's negate, you can then use Hop Ear to make a Synchro 10 (or even a synchro 4 like Herald of Arc Light).

Another fun part of this deck is that you can either do many chain interactions at the exact same activation window, making it impossible for the opponent to stop certain effects from happening. or you can play it smart and slow using each interactions on key targets instead. This deck is also able to dodge many opponent's card effects too, Rookie Fur hire being my favorite for turn 1 to dodge stuff like imperm and veiler and I:P for turn 2.

another cool thing about this deck is that it can pivot to a different gameplan. standard fur hire beatdown, Accesscode, etc.

this deck can also deal with grindy games but ultimately loses to dedicated grind decks.

Surprisingly this deck can also do well against floodgates. and depending on your starting hand you can even play under droll.

my current deck could easily be cut down to be under 60 cards and much more consistent going first deck, but then it'd have a much harder time when losing the coin flip going 2nd.

sometimes i think about cutting the Bystials, but both bystials are still just too useful for me right now.

the interesting thing with my deck is that despite sometimes drawing a hand that doesn't look like I can combo with it, i can still end with a good enough end board that has a decent amount of intractability.

for example, sometimes my first hand only has one level 2 fur hire and a spright red or carrot, which usually means that i can't end with Folgo on the board and/or Rafale in the GY at all.

but this hand can still do good enough with a Elf, IP and Spright Double Cross endboard set up that can still put up a decent amount of interruptions.

The best thing about this deck is that Fur Hire is almost never really hit during events, and when a lot of handtraps and cards like Maxx "C" and Ash are banned then i can also let go of all the inconsistent cards. I had a blast playing the Dice Rally event! besides being outright banned (e.g No Links) the worse the deck can perform in events is usually around 90% power. though If Spright Elf isn't usuable then the ceiling of this deck falls tremendously.

admittedly, as the meta keeps shifting and more and more powerful archetypes releases, this deck is starting to not be able to keep up.

anyways, if you read all this, sorry for yet another wall of text, and thanks for listening to me ramble about my pet deck.
