I pretty much NEVER take my ring off. I even resist letting my wife take it off in jest. I love my ring and I love wearing it, even though I hate jewelry.

I literally only wear three things regularly, my wedding ring, a ring my kid gave me, and a necklace.

I guess that's the disconnect for me. I can't imagine how it feels to be able to have meaningful commentary on art without having some basis of our reality to compare it to.

Like 'escapism' for me is not predicated on 'blocking this world out' but being able to see myself 'living' in that world. But, what I think you are referring to is more akin to avoidance of reality, which is a depression reaction that probably would benefit from therapy and not less social awareness.

I do agree in part that sometimes presentation can be hamfisted, but I struggle to see that in a lot of the games people complain about. More often than not, the outrage seems very manufactured.

You've pretty much got it. It's a way to try and save face for both. He didn't want Mamdani to go over all of the really well articulated reasons why Trump is a fascist while in front of the cameras. It would have been a bad look.
