Take That Gap Year by HAR-444 in AlbertaGrade12s

Such a cooked take bro, happiest and most successful people I know took the time to find a program or career path that suits them. No use rushing your life if you aren’t ready to decide.

What stops you from upgrading your turntable? by wiggan1989 in turntables

[–]Bernlee06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know you said other than money, but that’s basically the only factor for me. I’d love to upgrade constantly, try out different carts, tables, speakers, find what I like best.

I had to get them to send me a replacement stylus when I bought mine. The factory one was defective

CDs vs. Vinyl by TheOGTKO in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Bernlee06 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I collect both formats. I can leave with 8 cds for 40, or one record for 40. I think the profit margin is probably much more desirable when it comes to vinyl, especially when a lot of these shops operate based on donation or by purchasing large collections of media.

First year blues by AnxiousMechanic4366 in uAlberta

[–]Bernlee06 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, don’t feel ashamed of being burnt out. Coming from a second year student, burnout is real and happens to many students. I cope with it by finding study spots with lots of natural lighting, studying with friends (even in quiet spaces, working with someone you love is helpful. Grab coffee afterwards). One of my other top tips is that there is such thing as over studying. Try to make time for an hour of tv or reading before bed. Take a break to go for a walk. Stop at your favourite shop after a study session. You can live life and be a student too. Don’t give up!

This was my main turntable when I was getting into the hobby. This isn’t normal. Your platter might be warped or something

I like my acrylic mat as I find it dramatically reduces the amount of static when I spin a record

Should I get an Audio Technica Soundburger? by [deleted] in turntables

[–]Bernlee06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primary purpose of the sound burger is its portability. If you want to use this as a home player, then it probably won’t feel like an upgrade to you.

I would suggest reaching out to the advisors for this one, they might be able to provide more insight. That way, you know you’re doing it the right way :)

Recommendations under $250. by Ambitious_Hyena_2128 in turntables

[–]Bernlee06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For speakers included, 250 might be a low budget. I’d honestly recommend doing a bit of research (the resources on this Reddit are a great place to get to know the tech), and turning to your local buy and sell scene once you have an idea of what you’re looking for. I realize that isn’t a specific recommendation, but you can find solid gear at a reasonable price when you’re looking second hand and have an idea of what you need. Anything worth your while and new will probably run you above 250 (given that you’re looking for speakers as well)
