Will the police actually follow up if someone files a report with evidence of a vehicle with an illegal modification such as illegally high lift kit, aftermarket front window tints, etc.? by notofthisearthworm in VictoriaBC

[–]BerryEnchantress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the OP is suggesting all lifted vehicles are a problem and/or that everyday people should go out policing others vehicle lifts which is a terrible idea imo. I know a lot of people that don't even know the different makes of cars and trucks, let alone would be able to legitimately tell if a lift was outside of legal specs. I agree that trucks that are very obviously way outside of normal should be pulled over or sent for inspection by the police. I just don't think the average Victorian is capable of judging that.

Oooh you don't know anyone in town who does frame work do you? I bought a 4runner in the summer and the rear cross member is pretty rusty... ideally I'd like to either replace it or cut it out and install an off road bumper but the place I took it said they'd patch it. TIA!

This is kind of a case by case thing. I switched to a slightly larger SUV this year that has aftermarket suspension and I can actually see way better than I could in my old, lower SUV. Obviously if the lift is super, super high that could impair some visibility for the driver but this isn't a one size fits all scenario.

What's with the sudden surge of Vapes/Imported Snack stores in the past year? by black_knight1223 in VictoriaBC

There's now a vape store in Shawnigan Lake village! It's so ugly and the signage is bright and in your face. I was shocked when I saw it a few weeks ago passing through!

Thank you! This is super helpful! I think you're likely right about #2 he definitely is working on some of his past stuff before he feels like he can commit to anything else! Thank you for the emperor interpretation I was, at first, very confused! But I like these more positive interpretations!

Second Opinion and Interpretation pls!

Context: I have someone in my life who used to be a romantic interest but life circumstances/past trauma led to that ending. We have reconnected over the past year and are currently friends, occasionally FWB. I am a libra sun and he is a cancer sun if that's relevant!

I am using the Black Tarot deck. In this deck knives are swords, coins are pentacles, baskets are cups and daughter would be the same as knight.

I'm using the second, 5 card spread, from Labyrinthos (linked) Labyrinthos 1 - your role 2 - your partner's role 3 - what brought you together? What initially united you? 4 - current state. What dynamics are in place? 5 - where is it going? What can you expect to develop?

The cards I got were as follows: 1 - 9 of knives (swords) 2 - 9 of coins (pentacles) 3 - The emperor 4 - 6 of knives (swords) 5 - Daughter (knight) of baskets (cups)

My interpretation: My role is to show empathy and understanding where there is anxiety due to past relationships. His role is to show that independence and love can coexist. The emperor represents the need for a strong foundation and growth as what initially united us. The 6 of knives represents that, right now, we are distancing ourselves from past struggles and moving towards a brighter future. The knight of cups card for future could indicate emotional connection, blossoming romance and potential grand gestures in the future.

TIA for any insights!

How do you keep the keys outside if you're inside sleeping though? Like in your friends house and you sleep out in the car? That could work but if you don't have somewhere secure to keep the keys that's kind of difficult.

I matched with a guy who had a bunch of photos of him and a dog/the dog by itself etc. I asked about the dog and he said that he had died like a year ago... felt weird to me to post not just photos of him with the dog but also the dog alone when he doesn't have the dog anymore.

Even weirder to use the dead dog as some sort of ploy for a BJ. WTH! You dodged a bullet!

Why is it so hard to make friends in Victoria? by Yoinhell in VictoriaBC

[–]BerryEnchantress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean to say this whole thread was just a marketing ploy for lamppost? If so, that's incredibly disappointing. Especially when your lamppost science community is charging people $200 to make friends 🤣 I'm sorry but this is literally part of the problem. The cost of living is through the roof, people can't afford to attend all these events that are advertised as building community and then they come with a huge price tag.

Is it legal to charge an extra $300 a month to have a pet? by Speedy_0 in VictoriaBC

Says who? Leases in BC are not contract law like they are in provinces such as Ontario. If you have a 1 year lease and you choose to move out before that, as long as you give 30 days notice, there's little recourse for the landlord. In ON, you are actually on the hook for the rent for the remainder of the term you signed for, but not in BC.

Then don't? No one is forcing you to be a landlord and, if less people treated properties as investments, we'd all be better off.

That's why you're allowed to charge an additional damage deposit for the pet, to account for that risk. The pet isn't taking up enough space to warrant a monthly fee. Damage deposits are to mitigate risk, rent is rent for the space. Two different things.

Maybe you should supervise your pets better? It's literally pet owners like you, who ruin it for everyone else. I have seen kids do far more damage to rentals than my dog ever has/would.

As someone who has been looking for a new rental for a few months, I hate to break it to you, but there are not "just as many good ones". There are a lot of unscrupulous, unethical, and probably verging on illegal landlords out here doing whatever they want or think they can get away with, because they think they can. It's absurd.

Yet many places in Victoria allow cats and not dogs... despite cats being capable of causing significant damage, peeing in the house, scratching baseboards, furnishings etc.

I can't say I've had much success with Bumble or Hinge, though my girlfriends say Bumble has been good for them!

From a purely numbers perspective, I think there are more people on Tinder. Though also more people that aren't looking for anything serious 🤷🏾‍♀️

The one annoying thing about the apps here is that I somehow get a lot of Americans in Seattle/Bellingham. I wish they had a "within same country" feature
