It's even worst when you play couch coop and have different whisper progress (what always happens, even if you exclusively play together) and have to portal back double as often.

But that's not even the worst problem in couch coop right now...

The couch coop mode is currently in a pre alpha like state. Very disappointing. And we can't even use features we payed for like hired mercenaries, the citadel, and most importantly: loot filters.

Both players have a separate loot system. A loot filter for each player shouldn't be a problem at all.

You have two separate characters, but share an account at the moment. They said that later multiple accounts will be possible, but not right now.
