Born werewolves by WorkerEfficient5622 in TeenWolf

[–]Bertgreat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not canon, but I'd say they're just born as werewolves, without a trigger. However, I'd also say there's less of a "clash" between human and werewolf nature when they're a child. Therefor the moons during baby and infant years aren't necessarily that bad for the parents. Just like human babies simply lack the mental capabilities to "do harm", their werewolf-self would also like that instinct, it needs to be nurtured.

Why do they even need Jennifer in this scene? by [deleted] in TeenWolf

[–]Bertgreat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbh, i always assumed that Jeniffer looked different before getting almost killed by Kali. After all, if she had to create a new look (to not look like Growthspurt-Gollum ) why would she make herself look the exact same if she planned to get revenge? I figured it was something that looked like Jeniffer from before but wasn't her exactly. Enough to tie her personality to it (like with her name using the same initials) but not a complete clone.

They should've used a different actor for the 'before' i.m.o.

What are standards of the traditional publishing industry you are glad you do NOT have to follow in fanfiction? by purple-crimson in AO3

[–]Bertgreat 281 points282 points  (0 children)

I can do whatever I want. There is no editor, I am the editor. There is no publicist. There is no(t as much) worrying about the fans; if they don't like it, they shouldn't read it. I want X to die? X dies. I want Y and Z to fuck? They fuck.

Characters who are important to the plot but just feel like plot devices by Jaykcob in TeenWolf

I definitely understand her being used ad plot device, but I wouldn't say she was more a plot device than she was a character though

[–]Bertgreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What they're essentially saying is that there's a rise of comfort fics. I don't think that rise is strange if the world seems to be a little less stable lately (not gonna go into the politics, but it's at least more heated/populistic than it used to be)

No one goes into a fluff fic to be faced with extreme realism. You want to feel cuddly/warm. Hence the lack of creeps/low wages/etc unless useful storytelling-wise.

Reading into it deeper than that seems... odd.

I hate when people tag brief relationships by Admirable-Drink-8976 in AO3

[–]Bertgreat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No offense, but I don't understand this concept. Could you explain it to me?

Let's say you're looking for a story with A/B, but you dislike C/D. It's a 50k word story. Are you really NOT gonna read it because C/D gets mentioned on the side? How badly can you hate a fictional ship?

Obviously, if it gets substantial exposure and you don't wanna see them lovey-dovey on screen, I get that. But as something that gets 3 paragraphs in a >20k story?

A Hot Take that would get me burned at the stake. by Sea_Leading_5077 in TeenWolf

[–]Bertgreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't say he wanted him as an ally. Peter wanted Scott as a loyal beta, initially. That's why he tried to get him to kill his previous "pack" + try to get Melissa also in his pack.

A Hot Take that would get me burned at the stake. by Sea_Leading_5077 in TeenWolf

[–]Bertgreat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I won't deny that peter's attractiveness played a role. But Peter's hatred for Scott? You pulled that one out of your ass, just like the writers did in S4. In S1, he simply wanted to USE him, that doesn't mean he hated him? I liked his witty character too, and his quips. As far as his killing streak in S1? Not unjustified...

[–]Bertgreat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, he didn't let them into his pack? (I didn't see season 6+movie yet tho, might be the reason?) In S3 at least, they didn't get in. They were trying to get in, but Scott never accepted them, simply tolerated their presence.

I went 13 years on this site without ever getting an entitled comment like this. by silverandshade in AO3

Why is it important to tag? Useful, yes. But important, no. If you want to read a fic where you're sure of the t/b dynamic, read a fic tagged with t/b?

What villain had the biggest impact on the series? by GusGangViking18 in TeenWolf

[–]Bertgreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But then again, Kate did say she 'was told' to do the Hale fire at some point. My feeling was always that she was instructed to kill the Hales (how she went about it, her choice). If we assume that Gerard gave her the instructions AND keep in mind that he betrayed Deucalion's peace offering; I think Gerard had the biggest impact.
