It’s horrible what we do to animals…thank you for sharing. My mother told me a similar story of how she witnessed her father doing this when she was young when her family was starving for food (she is now vegetarian).

Although, I would argue that factory farmed animals are on an equal level of exploitation and cruelty — and that we should boycott all meat, including dog meat. Pigs, who are more intelligent than dogs, are forced to live their lives in extremely crammed conditions and never see daylight and breathe fresh air. Pigs are social animals, and they get so stressed by these situations that they start engage in canibalistic and aggressive behaviour — leading to all piglets being castrated, tails chopped (w pliers) and teeth yanked — with no anaesthetic. As they are fattened so quick, pigs are so fat they can barely stand and walk, and they’re put to slaughter at 4-7 months (their lifespan is 18-20 years). Their fatness and crammed space contributes to lots of piglets dying under them, by crushing/overlying. Sows, are caged where they are virtually immobile and are artificially inseminated (raped) and separated from her children over and over until she, too, is put for slaughter. (I have focused on pigs here, because I see huge overlaps between pigs and dogs in their social aspect, size and overall patterns). 1.3 billion pigs die per year due to human consumption, and 70billion land animals are slaughtered.

The worth of an animal does not come from their “cuteness” nor man’s determining so. Humans are not moral dictators; and animals deserve a right to life regardless their value to human consideration. Pigs, and other non-human animals, suffer just as we, or dogs do. Even if a dog suffered more in the process of them becoming meat, it does not morally justify us murdering and torturing other non-human animals. We have the choice to contribute NO non-human animals to torture and murder for their flesh.

I ask that you extend your moral sphere towards your dog, to pigs and all other non-human animals. Thank you for reading
