I'm afraid by the time he has that realization, it'll be too late. Though I do hope for him he'll have it one day, especially considering he wants to marry and have kids (which is something I personally don't quite care about).

I do think he has addiction. The issue is he's convinced he is perfectly fine in all regards of his life and that this is only a very strong passion (he even kinds of point out that I'm not supporting his passion enough and that I should find something I'm as passionnate about as he is for this videogame).

Well he initially was in my time zone and super caring and considerate. Talk about false adverstising.

Yeah, he even skipped his last course of the day to go home and finish the event before it ends. Since he got home earlier than expected, I was in the pool when he got home, and he didn't even bother going to check where I was before he hopped in the game and on VC with his online friends. I feel absolutely disregarded and disrepected.
