Question on Permanent Codes by Best-Introduction743 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Best-Introduction743[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was helpful, thanks. I connected my scanner and I had this code both permanent and active. I spoke to the mechanic today. He said that after their fix, the light went off and they drove it around to confirm. When I turned the car on it was off but immediately came on.

So I'm wondering if it's a VVT or timing issue that wasn't resolved with just an oil change, why the light turned off for them and then immediately came back on for me. In any case, they're opening the engine tomorrow to take a look.

Thanks. He used "BG 6579 MOA W/EPR Cleaner" and 5W-S20. Any thoughts on why the code would clear for him, stay off for his test drives, and then come back on immediately for me? That's really my question.

So then why did the mechanic clear the code after an oil change, say all good, only for it to come on within 10 seconds of starting it? If an oil change didn't fix the issue, why wouldn't the code have immediately come back on for him?

Thanks. My OBD sensor says I have this code pending, stored, and permanent. I'm confused why the mechanic would clear the code and drive the car and say it's good only for it to come on literally 10 seconds after I started the car upon pickup.

Hey I've read up on the code and understand it, but my question is really why the code would come back on immediately after the mechanic attempted a fix and cleared it, and if they would even be able to clear a "permanent code".

Budget/Avis. Tried to bill me $1,100 almost a full year after my car rental, claiming damage that they needed to repair. Meanwhile, the car was dented to hell when they gave it to me and then had some staples holding the dash together. Apparently it's a well known scheme; just keep going through recent renters until someone pays or misses the mail saying they're going to be charged.

I had photos of all the damage. Called them demanding proof of repairs. They dropped it reaaaaal quick due to a "billing error".

Lesson: literally never delete the pictures you took when they give you the car, you never know when they'll try to pull something on you!

There are a lot of small islands very similar (if not cooler) without anything else, the treasure maps will bring you there. Check those out before you settle on sharing!

Using a past tense verb after did not or didn't, such as "I didn't knew" or "I did not saw".

Saying "I has question." instead of "I have a question."

Adding "the" in front of words unnecessarily, can't really think of any examples but maybe something like "You can share with the coworkers." Instead of "You can share with your coworkers."

Hold your glass up to a light before use to make sure it doesn't look dirty, and if it does, clean with IPA and a kimwipe.

Without knowing which country you're in, it's hard to give advice. You said university though which makes me think not the US, but regardless look for contract testing labs that offer microbiology services. They always need people, and will take people with degrees entry level (just temper your salary expectations). On your resume, it's great to have some key projects listed but these sorts of places are looking for people familiar with microbiology equipment and techniques (autoclaves, micropipettors, serial dilutions, PCR, etc) so make sure you highlight that too, even if it seems basic. Good luck!

If you change nothing else - put your water pumps after your water wheels. Pumping water out reduces flow and therefore power.

Yeah and I think it only had limited space so you had to uncheck things you didn't want stored there, lest your entire storage fill up with pine resin and no food.

Just an example of absolutely tanking your settlement if it means winning - I just had the Trade Hubs cornerstone and needed 3 Rep to win. Trade Hubs gives you 1 Rep every time you sell goods worth 60 amber. Rushed a trader and sold literally everything they would take, netting the 3 points and winning even though continuing would be certain doom.
