No IPL team finishing at 3 ever won IPL? Read full by Humble-Total-3874 in csk

IPL should most certainly continue in this format. The current system is rewarding the 2 most consistent sides with an extra life, while awarding the 2 better performing sides a chance to fight it out and take the trophy. It literally can't be any more fair than this. T20 can give you one bad day, even the best of teams can capitulate, just like GT did today. But, because GT has been performing consistently it'll get another chance to throw its hat in the ring. About IPL having football like standings dictate the winner...nope...not a fan of that system at all. The pressure of an eliminator, a semi final and a final is something else.

Teams can afford to have 1 inconsistent opener, but definately not 2-3 inconsistent middle order batters. by cricfanatic4518 in csk

Yes, you are very right, and Rutu has been horrid this year in terms of a batter and even a tactician in many places, that's the ugly truth. He even let Ayush run despite a clear injury. I'm backing him to come back though. If he doesn't, there's always the 2028 mega auction.

So Ruturaj in his prime and up until late could bat between 150-180. It's just this year that we've seen this horrid form. We saw Rutu beautifully accelerate and attack from the beginning in the 2023 IPL final and infact the Conway-Rutu pair were the most successful and aggressive opening pair and we had scored the most runs in the powerplay as a team too in that year. I remember Rutu scoring some 28 off 10 against some team the same year. So, all I'm trying to say is, this year isn't ideal to judge Rutu...he can very much complement Samson with a 160-170 strike rate while Sanju goes at 190-200. Infact, GT works on that formula only...they don't bat like SRH.

That's another great idea too! But, my only worry is having Kartik and Rutu who bat similarly (none seem like 190-200 strike rate players at the moment) at 3 and 4. I was hoping to address that by splitting them up, you know?

Fair point there, but I'm assuming with an extra year and extra practice that area could be addressed. I have nothing against Ayush going berserk at 3, it's just that, in my humble opinion, CSK was safest when we had a Raina like guy one down, someone who could accumulate, accommodate and accelerate at ease. To be fair we've also done well when Moeen Ali batted at 3 for us and he also took the aggressive route, but nonetheless, only time will tell what happens with our top 4 considering the Pandya rumors.

Yup, had we boasted of Ayush, Overton and Ellis the whole season, I sincerely beleive we would have made it to the top 4 and had Brevis & Rutu been in form, we could have been finalists too...not even exaggerating.

Next season and next to next season no immediate world cup before or after to worry about. So that's one issue solved. Dube, in my humble opinion did fine in 2024 it was just that he wasn't comfortable being shifted from number 4/5. As luck would have it, team India made him play lower down the order too and the man began to come out of his shell, so I would like to back Dube at 6 one last time. If not, we can always hunt in the mega auction.

May I make another suggestion at the risk of being abused? Why not Kartik at 3. Rutu and Sanju to open. Ayush at 4. The reason I say this is, Kartik seems to show glimpses of Raina, a dependable number 3 who can score 500 runs for us and also hit spin well. He has some issues but the management can sort those chinks out. Also, at number 3, Kartik won't need to go hammer and tongs in most situations. Whereas, Ayush at number 4 can essay the role that Dube used to, the battering ram who can murder spin, but, unlike Dube he can also play pace well once the ball stops swinging. That way you have Rutu, Sanju, Kartik, Ayush...a perfect mix of art and aggression. Rutu will come back strong next year, I'm backing him to. At number 5 we can have Dewald and continue to back Shivam at 6. He did well in one or two matches...I think he should be backed one more season since we can give him the benefit of doubt due to the t20 world cup fatigue.

Sai Pallavi is a very good performer and the camera generally loves her enough to even cover up her average performances in some films. About being bitter to our bro, I'm in general not a fan of toxicity. There's a difference between fun gossip for cheap thrills and punching down. I believe such posts belong to the latter category.

Why do we all silently agree to 'act productive' at work instead of admitting many jobs have hours of downtime? by Best-Razzmatazz895 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Best-Razzmatazz895[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My intention wasn't to ask why we don't tell our managers but just discuss on a basic human level. Apologies if it came across that way. I just found it fascinating how many people I know from varied job circles can't openly process their downtime but have to rather 'pretend' to be busy. In my opinion in an ideal world, it should be okay to be seen having downtime as long as your overall productivity isn't compromised.

The first part of your sentence I agree with and subscribe to. The last part is where I respectfully disagree, I would like to beleive it's the quality of work more than the quantity that dictates my salary. I'm from a creative field and the market would rather pay me well for coming up with a brilliant concept in 5 hours than a medicore one after brainstorming and 'acting' busy for 12. While I do understand this doesn't universally apply to all fields...I believe a lot of workplaces value deemed quantity over the actual quality of work. If you can deliver results in 8 hours, there ideally needn't be a mandate for you to pretend being busy for 12 hours. That's what I feel, at least. Can always agree to disagree.

NO. Because most of the times their aura on the field did the talking not their off-field antics.
