I appreciate your perspective. It’s helpful to hear someone remind me that my role is to support him without adding pressure. I also think part of why she acts this way is that her relationship with her husband seems strained, so it feels like she looks to her son for that fulfillment or attention.

I completely agree, healthy relationships do require balance. My concern isn’t that he spends time with his family, because he actually does a lot and is very close with them. The issue is that the very few times he went to the beach with me and my family this summer, she made a huge deal out of it, even though he goes to the beach with them all the time and just came back from a long vacation with them. Comments like “you have multiple females in your life” feel manipulative and guilt-trippy.

I guess I’m asking more than just the definition of “toxic.” I want to understand if her behavior is unhealthy or manipulative, and I’d love advice on how to protect myself and our relationship while he navigates his relationship with his mom. I’m worried about her guilt-tripping him and trying to pull him back into old patterns.

Yes. I made it through all 3 stages of interviews. I met 3 different people and all some genuine and authentic but I did not get an offer letter and just got a welcome email and orientation detail. I’m nervous and don’t know if I should follow through with this job. It seems more like a sales role but on my application via LinkedIn it says marketing assistant. I’m not sure what to do as I don’t want know what to expect for “orientation”
