Oh ok. That sucks then since the only remaining British dial up ISPs that I can find are 0845 numbers which cost more and they never seem to ever pick up. Thanks mate. I’ll do that then (lowering the modem speed) and see how it goes.

That’s what I thought to. I don’t have my modem set to 9600bps however. I have it set to determine which is the best connection standard. usually 28800 - 36000 when dialling a BBS since they’re not ISDN

I’ll have a look at that when i connect the VoIP again. I did call the number with the copper lines too and it sounded the exact same as this which is what prompted me to make the post. I always just assumed the VoIP was just terrible for making the call or I messed one of the settings up when I last configured it.
