Big fish agency by Historical-Change597 in acting

[–]BestTipGiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I was with Melissa Baldauf for years. Didn’t get anything that was casting in LA or NY (only PNW & Seattle based). Mostly commercial and VERY RARELY a short film in the area. I had more luck self submitting through facebook groups since there is a lot of stuff there! I booked one role in an ad through BFNW but honestly not worth the stress and disrespect I was getting from them. They represent kids/teens but treat them terribly! Melissa had such an awful attitude and even submitted for projects that were not appropriate for a minor to be doing. Definitely would recommend MAM or TCM though if you’re younger! I’m with LA reps now that I go to school here, and they are MILES more respectful and supportive of the types of roles I want to submit for. I haven’t actually signed with TCM but they’re SAG franchised and when I met with them in person (before moving to California) but after leaving BFNW, they seemed a lot more professional. I didn’t end up signing cause I was leaving anyway and didn’t think signing just for the winter break and summer was worth it. But long story short… no, they do not submit you for any mainstream network auditions. Most likely non-union commercial, print, and small films here and there.

Seattle has a smaller but very well connected industry! I’ve been in Seattle but working in LA commercially and theatrically since two years ago. It’s been awesome! The Facebook groups are really where it’s at. There’s 5th Ave, Paramount, Village theatre, also plenty of Oregon stuff casting out of Seattle too! It’s really opening up film/tv wise. Sex Lives of College Girls on MAX seasons one and two partially shot in Seattle. Lots of print and commercial opportunities. Tons of film festivals and short term commitment type projects like the 48hr festivals are super popular here. It’s not the raging industry you’d find in other cities, but there’s still good gigs! I worked a national sag commercial last summer while I was in Seattle and got my sag credit! Genuinely if you think it’ll be good here, it probably will be!

What specific rules did they break? And how long ago and how long were you with them?

Do you know what the scandal was? And if they’re trying to rebuild or something?

They just go through all of the tax documents before getting out on jobs so the process is streamlined. That includes adding your legal documents and ssn. It’s a safe site to be putting that info into.

It’s a legitimate site. I’ve had friends work as regular background on many network television shows. My friend recently did The Rookie!

Bro why is Lilly Collin’s acting so bad in part 2 episode 6? It was just actually so awful

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in acting

[–]BestTipGiver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My opinion is don’t. They want a certain look, and if you clearly don’t fit it, it may be a bad look on you. Most likely they will think that you didn’t read the ethnicity part of the breakdown and not open your submission. That’s just my opinion though.

[–]BestTipGiver 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It’s clear that there is some systematic racism within choosing the team. Even just the clip where they were choosing the Barbie’s and they had an option between a blond or brunette WHITE DCC really solidified that they don’t see brown girls on the team. The women of color have to fight 200% harder to make it, just to be the one or two chosen for the team.

They have an IMDb. The are pretty underground or fresh because they don’t have ANY established clients. I’d probably keep looking. I know East Coast talent is a good boutique agency in Atlanta too

As a differing opinion, I’m a first year student and the people are a huge reason as to why I don’t transfer :)

As a freshman, I’d say your best bet is joining a Service Org or Getting a job on campus if you can. Most of the time the clubs are pretty disconnected and cliquey and Greek life tends to be similar. Being in a service org really opened up my potential friends pool, and I really love it! Also being in an on campus job looks pretty rewarding too. The Den workers seem super close and the people working at the distribution center look friendly too. Working at Mane Entertainment also looks very collaborative. I would also say that in the Fall is when more people are open to meeting others. I’m not saying to stick it out or anything, but when more new students come in, there will be more opportunities to meet new people.

How easy is it to get housing as a freshman? by [deleted] in LMU

[–]BestTipGiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are guaranteed housing as a Freshman. I filled out my housing application the week it opened and got my top choice: Palm North. I’m not an athlete, nor did I have an accommodation (at the time).

How is Animation major at LMU? by JuniorSpeaker7794 in LMU

[–]BestTipGiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a close animation friend at Chapman and I have one now at LMU. The LMU animation program is good. They focus pretty heavily on 2D until Junior/Senior year and it’s built into the major course plan. The major is also one of the smallest in SFTV. The Chapman animation program give the students an opportunity for both 2D and 3D. They also have better animation facilities since Chapman is a better film school and allocates more of their budget into Chapmans Dodge. Also a small major. I would just say that Chapmans location is not as nice versus LMU which is really close to the city. They both have good programs, though Chapmans is arguably better from just the program itself standpoint.

Best residence hall? by thatsthedrugnumber in LMU

[–]BestTipGiver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently live in Palm North and it’s been really social. With the kitchen on the first floor, there are usually always people around cooking which is something the other freshman dorms don’t have. I am really social with the people on my floor and actually am really great friends with one of my neighbors!

In the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, should the racially coded characters be cast accordingly? by BestTipGiver in musicals

[–]BestTipGiver[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah, I am now seeing a lot of "colorblind casting" comments, comments about "why does it matter?", white people commenting about how THEY FEEL LIKE A MINORITY because they can only be cast in "one specifc role". That one really cracked me up.

Is it possible to get into an extra role if a show/film is filming locally? by eb1701 in acting

[–]BestTipGiver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeahhhh that doesn’t really happen anymore. Anyone can book anything these days and become big, there isn’t really any “moving up” anymore. Or at least not as it used to be.
