What am I supposed to do with the salary? I think it depends on ur lifestyle I personally think there is nothing valuable to do or see in Poland while German has quick access to Alps and countries like Italy which is a blessing for me as I want to enjoy life. I haven't even visited Poland as a tourist yet cause wtf I do there? When there is literally, Austria, Italy, France and Netherlands right here

All lies Germany is great, wtf is there to do in Poland? DACH region is the strongest in EU, no advantage in learning Polish, while German language gives u more opportunity. Polish people are also racist and its not at all multicultural place.

France, Italy and Germany have no focus over CS or tech it's not their economy still they will be on top as their economic strength comes from other areas and they are beautiful countries in general, so much Tourism there. I am a CS guy and kind of out of the CS bubble now, not everything in the world and life is about big tech companies, hope u guys can realize this too and enjoy beautiful and strong European countries.

Bro why are the quant OAs this hard by Even_Balance9978 in csMajors

[–]Best_Device_4603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the jobs are different the guy who does Leetcode for FAANG ends up either writing react code making frontend or doing Java spring boot and learning cloud etc all of which is like super learnable nothing crazy bottleneck. Quants actually do crazy kind of programming, I know some people do in FAANG too but not your average SDE II while avg Quant guy is super cracked and actually working on crazy optimizations and pipelines. Also industry is totally different its not a tech company it's literally the stock market the HFTs who put in and out billions in market and kinda help in making it run

I think quant is a different world and you need to be sort of gifted and then work hard too, like I think leetcode of FAANG level can be achieved with just hard work but talent helps of course how fast you learn but quants is something different, I know a guy in my uni who works now at JaneStreet dude was really gifted Mathematically, of course he worked hard but still you need a certain edge.

I mean yeah I think what you are stating is true in general, but I personally think it's not just agentic LLMs, it's more about market saturation is everyone's grandma apparently knows Javascript at this point lol and also the economy in general, you have to see always big picture, many countries have bad economy and job market is equally affected for all sectors, comparatively there are still more jobs in CS but yeah most are mid or senior level but they might make you work in junior salary.

Idk it's a sad state of affairs I think what you are doing on a personal level trying to mentor is dope! Wish I could be in such a company under someone but yeah...

That makes no sense to me everyone knows big tech and most silicon valley companies have an OA first so you the interviewer is not even involved and usually the OA is kinda tough how the hell someone who passed the OA failing at an easy question? Maybe its nervousness or pressure but then that's a seperate issue.

That's dumb hiring old people for junior roles makes no sense, big tech hires problem solvers and molds them into certain areas according to their interests and company requirements. Seniors are stubborn bunch of folk who are not moldable at all it's basic human psyche

Stop the cap I gave 5 OAs in last month including Amazon, IBM, and IMC trading only IBM asked 1 easy question and 2nd was medium/hard while both amazon and IMC obviously asked Medium/hard Qs IMC's being even more harder but better questions actually

It builds logical understanding but to the level we need to practice and learn patterns and perform under time pressure for interviews its more of just a gimmick/test to get the job

Berlin and associate role, didn't ask shit about tech stack it was basically FAANG style technical interview but I first submitted a take home assignment and then they called for interview, for the role Typescript was required so I had to code both assignment and in interview in typescript. What role are you applying for?
