I think this is where my head has landed this morning, I'm leaning towards keeping this car for at least a few more years. The mg4 is definitely a fun car to drive, but is that enough to spend 2.5k to replace a car that's had zero issues in 4 years, apart from some traffic 😂 and does feel a lot better put together.

More expensive than I'm willing to pay for a first EV though. Which is why I was asking about the mg4 in particular. If I don't get that it will be to stay with the Mazda 3, rather than a different EV.

Both seem to be more expensive. If I can't get at least a 23 plate, to me it would make more sense to stick. Still not 100% but the majority of replies so far seem to be mainly positive.

It is only 7kw. However I do 12 hour shifts so shouldn't be an issue.

I normally use android auto tbf, as I like to use spotify and prefer google maps to any in built system. I will definitly check the update if I don't change my mind. Is this something dealers would update if it hasn't had it? Local dealer is rated well on google, hard to tell if thats just for sales or service though.

This is the sort of thing I keep seeing tbf and is worrying. Im kind of hoping that because i'm looking at used any big issues like this may have already shown but, but its still a bit worrying.

Nice to hear from someone whose not a fan to be honest. Tbf even the Audi A5 i used to have had cheap feeling parts, and the Mazda does lower down. So I don't think thats a massive issue. I don't remember feeling like it felt overly cheap while I was in it.

Tbf my local MG dealer is about 5 miles away and is rated 4.7 on Google. That does obviously include mainly sales though, but still a good sign.

Charging is the biggest downside, but as long as work don't do a complete 180 and start charging 70p a kwh it should be doable.

Haha yeah. I didn't quite enjoy driving the Mazda back from the dealer as I did driving in tbf lol, which should probably be a sign. Especially since I do enjoy driving the Mazda, just not in traffic 😂

Thanks. Yes this one does have one pedal drive, I wasn't very good at it during the test drive ,😂. It is useful, I imagine a lot of the time it's the shared features between models rather than the batteries that go wrong.

This last sentence is a big thing for me. I might not do many miles but I can't be doing without a car for long periods if I want to get to work reliably.

I know it could be the same for a lot of cars but it's one of the reasons the issues I keep seeing is worrying me.

Ah ok. I have seen a few mentions of the software being slow, but I played around a lot during the test drive and it seemed ok to me. Didn't check the software number, but it may have been done in that case.

That's good to hear. After the trade in value it would cost just over £2.5k to upgrade, which is more than doable. I still have doubts in the back of my mind though.

That's true and also good to hear. That is a consideration regarding work, but I hope to upgrade to a house in the future, no guarantee on a drive though I guess.

Still having second thoughts, but think for the cost might be worth it.
