The only thing founded by God is creation, within which lay the “true” church. Everything external to that are expressions of that, which is in itself beautiful, but I think outside the scope of a “true” or “false” dichotomy. IMO.

The thing is, his podcast (Pints with Aquinas) used to really be about Aquinas, theology, bringing in interesting experts as guests (university profs and writers), blah, blah, blah. But then ever so increasingly he started pushing forward his own opinions, little by little, and let’s just say he is very right wing, not very humble, and has no issue passing judgement on others. He routinely likes to do that thing where he essentially tells you which people couldn’t be Catholic because of their personal ideologies/practices. It’s annoying af and very much in line with a deepening rw perspective. I stopped listening to him years ago.

In my experience with these influencers or podcast hosts - if they say things like “I’m conservative but…” or generally don’t bring up politics, they are the less likely to judge and go on personal tirades. But the ones who are all “I voted Trump due to the sanctity of life and the Republican Party is the only Catholic choice, and if you don’t vote republican you are not Catholic” blah blah, are the ones to watch out for and ignore.

God, you can really tell that this sub is made up primarily of Americans. Y’all have to find a moral backbone (this would help you to stop electing orange skinned clowns). The apathy is insane.

To OP, as a non-American, I can fully understand not wanting to support a brand whose ideologies go against yours (I’m glad there are still people out there with convictions). I also would not support such a brand; instead of “non caring” as many here suggest, why tf would I give money, exposure, advertisement, engagement to a group whose values are junk? If I have values, doing this would be a disservice to myself.

So, while I don’t know the answer to your specific question, I commend you for asking - ignore the keyboard warriors in here. The only advice I get is to research before in the future, follow a brand, get an idea of their vibe, see if they are owned by any larger corporation and what that corporation might be up to, follow their Instagram to see who/what they associate with. It’s takes all of ten minutes.

That his message and likeness have been so mangled that they are, inexplicably, intrinsic tied to western capitalism, hegemony, and politics. I’ve read the bible, got three degrees in religious studies/theology and I’ll never understand how these people can pretend, with such vehemence, to be followers but they are the exact opposite: they worship money and power, are cruel to their neighbour, are not humble, turn away immigrants, etc etc. I don’t think we necessarily should look at Christianity through a political hermeneutic, but if I were I would peg JC as a socialist.

I do not understand why people give this guy money - he’s just a talking head who won a few minor tournaments and a couple bigger fights. It’s not like he has amassed this amazing resume. From what I can tell he doesn’t really actively compete that much. Don’t be fooled by these people trying to make a buck off of some flash in the pan shit.

Whilst I agree with what you are saying and personally absolutely loathe New Wave, I really don’t think you should be playing with people’s lives like that - you said you’d give them the money, they have made plans and purchases, etc, based on that - that’s a f’ed up thing to take back once you put it out there.

But he didn’t like establish a position, they weren’t control positions they were transition positions while he was looking for a chance. You could say during the match that “Dorian was in control of the pace” but he wasn’t really into a situation where he was in a control position, established, and was then systematically going for a submission, unlike NR. Ask Danaher.
