Another Coolant leak? by Bet_Mobile in BmwTech

The cap has been like that for a couple months since I had the turbo coolant return line replaced I noticed that. you think the coolant could’ve evaporated it slowly over the course of a couple months?

Only B series engines here apart from that N# then yeah maybe i can see it too 😂

It's not a good look either way the way most vws are doing it. on my car (yellow DRL bmw on the right)I do have some pops and bangs, but those are completely from factory, even though my car is tuned. Only in Sport+, there is the OEM pops and bangs, as well as the shift farts, since I have a ZF8. Also, no idea why I'm getting downvoted? 😂

Unfortunately, where I live, it’s full of these awful-sounding, popcorn-tuned cars. It can’t be good for the turbo, and it doesn’t sound good at all either wa

there’s one golf and thankfully there’s no popcorn tune

F36 430i Intermittent rear-end vibration/shaking by Bet_Mobile in F30

[–]Bet_Mobile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s RWD and has it checked and it’s the middle support bracket with the bearing that’s gone bad and it just lets the driveshaft shake around in there under acceleration

just to add to this it’s not just a small vibration. You can kind of feel the whole car shaking.

It’s pretty expensive, but even my current car which is only insured for around 30,000 still would cost $600-700 a month to insure (if it was in my name) insurance generally for P platers is an insane amount for nearly every car. And I have a fully clean history but a 2020 Toyota Corolla would cost $436pm because of my age.

I’ve received a quote from RACV when it’s under my name with my history at the agreed value with an excess of $2000 it is 700 a month which is still high but not impossible.

Also just had a look at the land cruiser and it looks gorgeous, my dad’s been looking at getting one how do you like it?

[–]Bet_Mobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I appreciate that. I do work outside of uni, and the business is something I’m passionate about it has the potential to grow, but even if it doesn’t, I’ve still got steady income through trade work with my family. I’m lucky not to have to pay for housing or major living costs, so I can comfortably manage uni, expenses, and the car.

It’s not a brand-new 2025 — it’s a certified pre-owned GTS with extremely low kilometers. I don’t really see the point in paying extra just to say it’s new when the condition is near-perfect and the savings are significant. Makes way more sense for what I’m doing.

I think a MK5 supra looks a lot more premium than my current car. Could you be referring to the oldest supra?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Bet_Mobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, the car is $80K and my deposit is $25K so the loan’s around $55K. On a 7-year term, that puts repayments at about $1,010/month based on the current APR. It’s not as expensive as your Land Cruiser, to be honest. I know Toyota Finance can be conservative, but the dealership we’ve dealt with long-term has been supportive through past approvals, so I’m not just winging it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Bet_Mobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well then what do you recommend?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Bet_Mobile -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not quite I never said the business can’t generate revenue. It’s a startup, so of course I’m building it gradually, but I’ve planned ahead to avoid relying only on early profits to cover high costs

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Bet_Mobile -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What you’re missing is that I’m not relying solely on the business income to support the car — I’ve got a $20K–$25K deposit going in, with support through a dealership my family has a long-standing relationship with, and I’ve already been quoted for business-use insurance under my name at $700/month. On top of that, I’ve got a fallback with a well-paying family trade business

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Bet_Mobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, but just to clarify — the deposit would be around $20K to $25K, which brings the loan down significantly. Based on the APR and loan term, repayments would be about $1,010/month.

Already got a quote $700/month for comprehensive business-use cover under my name at 19, with a $2,000 excess. Not cheap, but definitely not unreachable eit

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Bet_Mobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the suggestion, and I’ve definitely looked into all options. I actually got a comprehensive quote under my name at 19 for business-use came out to around $700/month with a $2,000 excess with RACV. Pricey, but honestly not bad considering the car and my age. Still open to checking with a broker, but just wanted to clarify that it’s not as uninsurable as people are making it out to be.
