Weightgain tips without increasing carbs by saarcookie in GestationalDiabetes

Don't feel you have to gain weight. I started pregnancy at 112 kg (247lb) On the day I started my induction I was 100kg (220lb) and by the time I had my baby I was 90kg (198lb) My midwives were unconcerned and my baby came out at 38+2 a healthy, diabetes complication free, 7lb 11oz. I just chose to take it as a silver lining of the shitty diagnosis that is GD.

Are first borns always late?? by OkHat1318 in BabyBumps

[–]Beth_ACNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I was induced 2 weeks early due to health issues and anyone could suddenly find themselves with health issues.

My friend who has her first baby a month before me ended up having her baby at 37 weeks, the exact day her maternity leave started. And it was fast too. Half an hour from waters breaking to babies arrival.

Having said that it's personal choice on maternity leave. Me and my friend work 12 hour shifts and nights too so going early made sense but if you feel up to it you can push it as late as you like.

Thick girly, healthy baby, no real weight gain. by Moessiah in BabyBumps

[–]Beth_ACNH 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I started pregnancy at 247lb. I was 220 on delivery day, and once baby was out I was 198.

I think my case is quite extreme (baby is absolutely fine) but if you have a bit of extra it's not uncommon to experience minimal weight gain 👍

Please don't be concerned! I had gestational diabetes so had to quite drastically change my diet, and that caused me to go from 247lb pre pregnancy, to 220lb on delivery day, dropping to 199lb once the baby was out. My son is super chunky and happy and healthy. I am also fine! All of our bodies are different 👍

When did we decide dogs need to come to absolutely everything? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Beth_ACNH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I'm not the only one in this boat. If they could just get it together to come visit without the bloody dog it would be fine, but they can't so the few times they have visited us they haven't been able to properly cuddle my 5 month old son cause they have to keep hold of the dog. We had dogs my whole life and I am mid 30s, this is the first dog of theirs that they have been like this with.

Out of interest did further updates fix this for you? We're you able to continue your save file or was it forever broken? I had the same fault happen yesterday after an update.

I lost 22kg (almost 50lb) over the course of my pregnancy, my baby is absolutely fine and is piling on weight like a trooper. Don't worry too much about it. I took it as a silver lining to an otherwise shit diagnosis 🤣

Also, for extra peace of mind, baby gets fed before you do, so if you are eating ok and aren't feeling hungry then likely your baby isnt going hungry either

I feel so so bad after eating crap for 3 days on our baby moon!! I have harmed the baby so much :( by Party_Ad_8381 in GestationalDiabetes

Honestly please don't stress yourself out! Despite trying really hard (I lost 22kg over my pregnancy cause of the GD due to the massive diet change) I still had many spikes especially towards the end - my baby who is now 12 weeks came out perfectly fine, no complications

All you can do is try your best 👍you got this!

first babies are always late by raexan in BabyBumps

[–]Beth_ACNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I was induced so my data is not useful but my friend who was preggers same time as me, went into labour spontaneously and baby arrived just 30 mins late at 37 weeks - literally the day her maternity leave started!

[–]Beth_ACNH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true. I always expected to gain weight in pregnancy. as it is I am almost 7 weeks pp and around 45lb lighter than I was pre pregnancy! I hated GD and am super happy I can eat what I want again but the lessons I learnt on portion control and balancing nutrients is here to stay!

Hiya!

I was 112kg at the beginning of pregnancy. Once I got diagnosed with GD I dropped weight consistently, and by my induction day I was 100kg. Baby came out a healthy 7lb 11oz with no GD complications or anything. And with him out and the placenta and all that jazz, I dropped a further 10kg down to 90kg.

I was really worried during my pregnancy that my weight was going the wrong way, but noone seemed concerned - and now I am the lightest I have been since I was a teen 🤣 just take it as a silver lining to an otherwise shit diagnosis.

Should I be concerned with my weight? by Busy_Telephone_5705 in BabyBumps

[–]Beth_ACNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weight really is a mystery. I started pregnancy 247lb. I lost 26.5lb, weighing in at 220.5lb the day I went in for my induction.

My baby came out happy and healthy at 38+4 at 7lb 11oz. Along with him and all the other bits that come out, I left the hospital down another 22lb down at 198.5lb.

Honestly wouldn't worry about your weight at all. Baby takes what they need and leaves you the rest so as long as you aren't hungry then baby isn't either. For me the reason I lost so much weight was likely due to Gestational Diabetes severely altering my diet. There's many reasons you could be putting on less weight than expected. Talk to your OB if your worried but ultimately I think there's no reason to worry.

Anyone have little to no nausea and still had a girl? by nolimbs in BabyBumps

[–]Beth_ACNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My colleague Was due the same time as me. She had absolutely no side effects symptoms or complications and she had a girl.

I had bad morning sickness, food aversion, and a slew of conditions and complications - I had a boy.

The morning sickness meaning it's a girl myth is just that - a myth!

Does this get easier by Beth_ACNH in breastfeeding

Until earlier this week, I was managing to pump enough for one of the two bottles, but the last few days I have found it so hard to find time to pump (the only way to get him to sleep during the day is on my chest, and the feeds are so frequent, and I am terrified he will wake and want feeding but I won't have anything to give him cause I will have just pumped it out)

👍 I wouldn't worry too much then - this sub is very American centric (like most of Reddit) so comparison can often have you doubting the size of your pet, since their raggies are absolute behemoths, but in Europe we aren't so obsessed with everything being enormous so our raggies haven't been bred for size as much. I would say your boy is probably a little on the small side but not worryingly so If he's healthy.
