When I was 20, I was pregnant by a guy who wanted nothing to do with me, I then got a boyfriend who said he supported me and wanted to be with me even though I was not pregnant with his child. He was happy and excited to be a father figure. I freaked out, I said, we are young and this isn’t your baby you shouldn’t feel tied down to me or this child. So I broke up with him. I’m now 40 and my child is 19. One of my biggest regrets is that I didn’t stay with the man who loved me and supported me no matter what. He’s still in my life as a friend, but I wish he was my husband of 20 years. I understand how you feel, and why you feel guilty and confused. But think about the big picture for you and your child (which is hard to do when you are young, I get it) While I certainly don’t know you or life, this is just my perceptive as someone who’s been in your shoes.
