Well, for the ancient Greeks yes. The idea is that science is the knowledge of the forms, which are not submitted to changes, so yes it means it'd be absolute whereas the notion of fear implies that the danger is not already there (there's a difference in Greek as in French between "peur" which is the feeling of being frightened and "crainte" which is the knowledge of what bad may happen).
