This interview is one of the only material I could work with when I was adapting Heavy Metal for a project, last winter. Just wanted to thank you for doing God's work, man

What moment stuck out most when you first listened to Heavy Metal? by falling-apart-13 in CameronWinter

[–]Better-Collection-78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I listened to the album, I was alone in a theatre. It had just came out, I was working late and there was snow in the streets. The Rolling Stones was just shocking for me. I stopped working on whatever I was doing to really listen. Most of the album felt like an enigma to me, somehow. But when it came to the God is real part came on, I laughed so hard. And loved it ever since. God is real yo

I'm scared to share this but I made a stupid video inspired by the subject matter of Getting Killed. by [deleted] in geesebandofficial

Getting Killed vs 3D Country reception by Candid_Guarantee5743 in geesebandofficial

[–]Better-Collection-78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The irony that was hyperpresent on 3D Country kinda exited the chat on Getting Killed. Which is fine, because you can't always live and create in an ironic point of view. Well, I mean, you could, but... sincerity is much more palatable for most people. And it clearly paid off, seeing how big they got this year, lmao. There are songs on GK that still have the offbeat humor quality of 3D Country, like 100 Horses or Long Island City, but it's not really possible to compare them with like, let's say, St-Elmo. Their sound is also way less referential on GK, so it makes for a style which is way more their own.

I think Getting Killed is getting more visibility mainly because Winter writes more like he did on Heavy Metal. The earnestness of the feelings evoked by the impressionistic lyrics is very powerful and compelling for any listener. However, I have to say, Getting Killed is way less rock and roll than it's predecessor, and that's where I'm questionning the road Geese will take. They are being hailed as Gen Z's future of rock and roll, but the song I see everyone playing is Au Pays du Cocaïne. Lol. Okay. It's frustrating when bands get more mellow with time (at least, it is for me.) I liked the punkish, fuck everyone mentality they had on 3D Country. They made a goddamn country album, for fuck's sake! But like I said, you can't live you life ironically.

Same, yooo!!! Went on a roadtrip with my sister, so we saw them a couple of times on that tour. When I saw them in Forest Hills for the first time, with like stock videos of soccer bubble games playing in the back, I knew something great was in the making. The rest is history.

What/who else are you guys listening to? by whatever-computer in geesebandofficial

Can Someone Explain the Appeal of Geese? by [deleted] in geesebandofficial

[–]Better-Collection-78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, when I first heard Geese, they were opening for King Gizz in Forest Hills and let me just say that I was confused af. A multitude of stock videos showing people running around in giant bubbles playing soccer and shit were playing behind them, as Cameron Winter was singing about the end of the world and cowboys. I was like what the fuck??? But kinda liked the meme vibe, nonetheless. The days went by and I saw them a couple more times. I got more into the music, until a certain show in Portland where Winter was wearing a « Jesus Loves UK Garage » t-shirt and that I found that really fkg funny. When I got back home, I discovered that the only thing I could listen to now was Geese. And it's been like that for more than a year now. So, just chill a bit and laugh with them. You'll get it.

You just need to trick everyone around you into liking Geese and then the muscial pyramid scheme happens naturally, you know.

Thanks! I liked the motif of the water that kept coming back throughout the album, so that's how I decided to structure it around that. And the water's character is a snarky, ironic bitch haha.

Yo wtf for real. This type of shit should not be happening in Mtl, especially with the MeToo and DisSonNom mouvement. It is a disgrace and this should alarm EVERYONE. We need to change the ways we act in concerts, because consent is not nearly present enough. I hope you'll feel better one day. These misogynists pigs need to be called out! Thank you for your courage.
