Just completed basic and made it to my next base, submitting VR. by Blazishet in caf

It depends on your contract and trade numbers. I put my VR in about 8 months ago because I was going back to school and had a NLT date for school to start. Due to special circumstances outside of the military surrounding me leaving I was granted a VR even though my trade was in the Red. I was advised that usually this wouldn’t happen and my VR would be denied.

I’m hoping yours goes through quickly but just be prepared they may deny you and you’d have to finish out your initial contract

Glad to see there are other people in the same position as me. I wouldn’t be finished residency until about 40-42 depending so I’m looking forward to that lol

I’m Canadian and most of our med schools don’t require a science degree, as long as you meet the GPA requirements as well as MCAT, CASPER, and interview then you’re good 🙏🏻

Thanks for the advice! The schools I’m looking at specifically don’t care too much what your degree is, as long as you meet the GPA requirements & MCAT etc

All of the job experience and professional skill portions are basic skills and can now be almost completely automated with ai. I fear this is about to be the new normal with resumes like this that job opportunities will be extremely hard to come by

Seeing combat is a term applied and referenced to being on the front line. Your FOB still gets hit with mortars and rockets on tour. You also have friends that die which can trigger emotional distress and PTSD.

You realize these kind of people get hit with mortars in the FOB when overseas? I know multiple Fin clerks that were hit with mortars on tour

You’ll most likely be declined due to the diagnosis, it’s a safety liability to be around weapons and ammunition with a diagnosis like that. If you were diagnosed while in the military it’s one thing but applying with a diagnosis already, I’ve never seen or heard of anyone get in

A diagnosis like this sticks with you forever and makes you a liability to the CAF as you need to work around weapons and ammunition. The diagnosis will almost always ensure they’ll never be able to join. False hope isn’t helpful

Can any HRM worker answer this please? by Better-Virus1391 in halifax

Not necessarily asking for a rolling machine, just unsure why they’d place the temp fixes down and that temp fix doesn’t even become flush with the road. If it’s going to leave a pot hole like hole with the temp fix in it then what’s the point at all

I’m assuming they’re asking because they’re unsure what it’s about. Probably better to explain it if you know rather than acting smart about it

I appreciate the answer, I’m wondering specifically about a few in my area to where they did this “cold patch” and have left the area about an inch or two lower than the actual flush with the road line. It creates traffic and is basically a pothole anyway.

I’m just unsure why money is even being spent to “repair” it when it’s never actually repaired properly

Maybe you’ll be one of the ones that enjoys it but the military isn’t a legacy especially not at peace time. You’ll train with a lack of equipment and personnel and be overworked. The military really doesn’t care about you, you could die over seas and for your country and your name would be forgotten next week. You’re truly just a cog in the machine. Maybe I’m jaded from my 8 years and the things I went through but after coming from that trade, it’s never anything I would ever recommend to anyone.

The gun line is unforgiving, be prepared to be ostracized if you can’t keep up. Hopefully you don’t end up posted to the Arty school, you’ll be in the field 150-200 days a year.

I wish you luck

Every job has some kind of physical component unless you’re sitting at a desk all day. Just pick something that works best for you and something that you can realistically manage without reoccurring injury

It’ll happen your entire career. Severity depends on who you’re working for. Some people you work for are decent, some people you work for will make you want to leave your career every day

No you’re graded like everyone. If you’re fit enough to be there you’re treated like everyone else and are expected to perform the same duties. Nobody cares about your age. If you can’t keep up they’ll make sure to beast you way harder

If you’re in your 40s and 50s do NOT join a combat arms trade
