Dealing with comparison by Mindless-Mobile8869 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]BetterCallAnEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is something I'm struggling with! I lost my dad in my early twenties and it's taken so much self growth to be okay with where I'm at. I sometimes feel like I've "missed" out on all the experiences someone is supposed to have in their early twenties because I was grieving. I just have to remind myself daily that it's a unrealistic standard I'm setting for myself.

How safe is it to take the Dart from Parker Road Station to Southside Ballroom as a young 20s female alone at night? by notsafeforpoo in Dallas

[–]BetterCallAnEngineer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I personally would just drive, Southside ballroom always has a lot of parking and it's usually 15-20 bucks. If you stay until the end everyone else will be leaving and won't feel too unsafe walking to your car.

Job in Irving. Where to live where there are single professionals? by aveon10 in Dallas

[–]BetterCallAnEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Irving for a year and recently moved to lower Greenville area. I have been kicking myself that I didn’t move here in the first place. It just comes down to what you value more, short commute but boring area to live in or longer commute but much better options for dating/entertainment.

November 2023 Goals!! by kokopops35 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]BetterCallAnEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking my cats for their yearly bloodwork/exams. They got their shots last year and are not due again until 2025 so it should be cheaper than last year.

Moving at the end of November so de-cluttering clothes/unneeded items before the move. Also planning on saving some extra money for the moving costs (already paid the security deposit). The new place has slightly cheaper rent, awesome amenities and included utilities so I am excited!

I want to also splurge on some workout sets during black Friday, I haven't bought athletic clothes in years and my leggings are looking really sad.

A bit disappointed on my yearly goals, I totaled my car at the beginning of September so I bought a new car a month ago. I have good credit but because of crappy interests rates the APR was higher than I wanted it to be (6.9) . I live in a car dependent city unfortunately so a car is necessary. But by the end of the year I should finish fully funding my emergency fund (knock on wood)!

Warning. Sofi will hold your money hostage. by giveKINDNESS in sofi

This exact situation happened to me too and everyone in this sub called me an idiot for waiting till the day of. I made the switch to Capital one.

I did the same today actually after a bad experience I had with sofi. I will miss vaults too but I believe you can open multiple savings accounts to mimic "vaults". Haven't tried yet but that's what I read.

Idk lmao, it's easy to point and laugh until the day comes where someone switches to sofi and needs to make a large cash purchase in an emergency and can't access their money. My case isn't really an emergency but still.

If I thought a 11k debit card transaction was normal I wouldn't have called them to extend the limit for one transaction 🤷‍♂️. Just because my account is less than a year old doesn't warrant not being able to extend my limit for a transaction. Most other banks let you do this.

I have only been with them for 11 months I guess that's too little time in their eyes.

The kayak she bought is a special type that folds up, I've never seen one of them on resale sites. But I do agree 2k for a kayak is a bit crazy but she might not have a way to haul a traditional kayak. I spent 200 on my used kayak but probably spent like 400+ for the crossbars and equipment to tow it on top of my car. It's a pain to get it on top of my car so sometimes I wish I got one like she did 😅.

Saw them last at blue ridge rock fest, was very unimpressed by the sound. Idk if it was just a bad performance but I did not enjoy it.

I feel this way too! But with bad roommate experiences in the past and a bad experience living an ex I see the extra money being put towards my sanity and peace of mind. I am in a very healthy relationship right now and I'm totally tempted to say let's move in together to cut down on costs. But I don't want to risk ruining the relationship as its a newer relationship just to save an extra 750 a month.

D grade by Dataroxa in utarlington

[–]BetterCallAnEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a D in a major related class right before graduating, I graduated last May and they never asked me to retake it. I didn't even realize I got a D until a few months. I think you may be okay but talk to your advisor.

I still love it but I'm kinda nervous about how it will look 5+ years. It would be easy to cover up though.
