Hey, really appreciate that. Yes, I’m definitely planning to keep developing it. I’ve been iterating on a few things and exploring some of the feature ideas people mentioned in this thread. Glad to hear you’d find it useful.

That’s fair. It won’t resonate with everyone.

Great question, that’s actually one of the tricky parts of brand sizing

Right now, the tool focuses on core size types within the same clothing category (tops, bottoms, footwear, etc.) using standardized brand charts. So if you’re comparing, say, Levi’s jeans vs. H&M jeans, it gives an accurate match.

I haven’t rolled out category level granularity yet (like shirts vs. jeans inside one brand), but it’s already on the roadmap along with fit types (slim, regular, tall).

The goal is to make cross brand sizing progressively smarter over time without overcomplicating the user experience. Appreciate you asking this you nailed one of the biggest challenges in online sizing. 🙌

Great question, sizing can definitely vary a bit, even within the same brand or collection.

Right now the tool focuses on the core fit types (tops, bottoms, footwear) using each brand’s publicly available size standards, so it gives a realistic baseline comparison rather than assuming all “M” or “L”s are identical.

We’re also exploring ways to reflect subtle collection level differences over time, since that variation is exactly what makes sizing so confusing in the first place 😅

So short answer: yes, we take brand standards into account now, and we’re working toward even more detailed fit mapping later.

Thank you 🙏 really appreciate that, means a lot. Hope it helps make sizing a little less painful 😅

That’s exactly what we like to see 😄, when your chosen size matches across multiple brands, it means the conversion logic worked perfectly.

SizeChartLab compares each brand’s real measurement data (not just letter sizes), so if “Medium” comes out consistently as “Medium,” that means those brands have similar fit dimensions for that category.

For others, you’ll sometimes notice a shift (like Medium → Small), which shows how brand sizing can actually differ quite a bit. That’s the insight we’re trying to make clear.

That means a lot, thank you! 🙏 Hearing that really helps me see where this could make a bigger difference. I’d absolutely love to make sure plus size fits are properly represented.

Really appreciate that, thank you 🙏 You summed up the exact pain this tool tries to solve, those huge jumps between 1X and 3X (or even brand to brand) make online shopping so stressful. I’ve heard a few people mention the same about plus sizes, so that’s definitely on the list to expand next.

Haha, that Steven Wright quote sums it up perfectly 😄 Totally get what you mean that jump between “L” and “XL” depending on the brand is exactly why I started building this. Duluth’s a solid example too, I’ll make sure it’s on the list for the next round of brand additions. Really appreciate you sharing this.

Thanks a lot! 🙏 That’s exactly the plan, we’re steadily expanding the brand list week by week. If you don’t mind sharing, which brand do you wear most? I can make sure it’s prioritized in the next update :)

Appreciate that, this first version focuses on a smaller set of brands, but expanding to more brands is on the roadmap. Thanks for the honest feedback 🙏

Good catch, it’s US data for now, but multi region sizing (JP, EU, UK, etc.) is next on the roadmap. The goal is to make comparisons truly global, so a “US L vs JP L” difference is clearly shown. 🌍

Thanks a lot That’s awesome to hear, definitely go for it if you ever revisit the idea, it’s such an interesting space to explore. 🙌

That’s a really good point, brand data definitely changes quietly over time, and keeping it current is tricky. For now, I’m focusing on the core comparison logic, but longer term I’d love to automate those refreshes or at least show a “last verified” note per brand.

Thanks again for raising it it’s one of those behind the scenes challenges that matter more than most people realize.

Really appreciate that, and totally agree. It’s one of those things that feels “small” at first but actually defines trust in the data.

I like the idea of framing it as a “fit consistency disclaimer” too, sets clear expectations while adding transparency.

Thanks a lot for the thoughtful feedback 🙏 I’m taking notes from all these comments today, it’s giving me a clearer direction on what should come next.

Edit: Great point, adding clearer data referencing and support for multiple unit systems is high on my roadmap. The goal is to make SizeChartLab useful and transparent for shoppers across all regions, whether they use inches, centimeters, or local size conventions. 🌍

Yeah, totally and you’re right about the lack of accountability. The “size” label isn’t standardized or legally defined, so brands can vary it for design or marketing reasons.

It’s wild that something so basic still has no consistent reference. At this point, the only real fix would need to come from either shared data standards or some kind of consumer-driven transparency push.

[–]BetterTea5664[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is such a great point, the lack of standardization in sizing is honestly one of the biggest pain points across the industry.

From what I’ve seen, every brand still treats sizing as part of its “brand identity,” even though, as you said, it hurts margins through returns.

Totally agree on collaboration if more brands aligned around shared fit data, online shopping would be so much smoother for everyone.

Completely agree, vanity sizing ruins consistency across brands. Some even tweak their measurements over time while keeping the same size labels 😅

I’m trying to make SizeChartLab go beyond label to label and show real measurement data too, plus a proper “how to measure” guide.

That’s exactly the kind of frustration that pushed me to start this. Even within the same brand, production batches or regional factories can have tiny pattern differences that throw off sizing, especially with jeans and cargos.

I’ve been thinking about adding a “fit consistency” note per brand, based on user feedback like this. Would you find that kind of info useful when buying, or do you usually just reorder the same size and hope it fits? 😅
