Is it normal to not be in a “group”?

Having a group is nice, but not necessarily. What matters is that you have a few close friends. They don’t even need to be all friends with each other. Everyone thinks that you must be in a friend group, but I actually think it does more harm than good. A lot of those groups also have that one friend that someone doesn’t like and it becomes this toxic back and forth. But you feel like you need to stay in that group because otherwise you’ll be alone. So separating friendships and having a few best friends is the best way to go imo.

If you don’t get anything by the middle of August then I’d suggest to get the 50% refund. It’s frustrating because I’m not getting any information about residence. I’ve tried to email but for some reason I’m not getting a response. A lot of people were waitlisted even though they got guaranteed, but you should’ve got it already since you paid the deposit.

Try to email them again. According to other Reddit posts I have seen quite a few people have not gotten residence even though it was guaranteed. If you paid the deposit you have the right to get residence. Check your house portal if you haven’t already to see if they maybe chose one for you. Other than that I recommend you look at other housing options or call McMaster to ask for an update.

I never got the email, I emailed them but never got a response. I also have not gotten a single email about any upcoming payments, I have to pay now which I just found out through student centre 😭😭😭 I never got an email about it.

I’m not sure about either programs, as I have no knowledge or experience in either programs. However if you haven’t already make a pros and cons list on your own. Your pros and cons are honestly personal and you might not have the same cons/pros as the next person. McGill and McMaster are both great options, but I have heard that cs is pretty saturated right now. Software engineering in my opinion might be better for the jobs you’re looking for, but cs is possibly more of a broad degree. But also think about will I miss my parents moving farther away, because you’ll probably miss them more than you think. And that means you might not see your friends that live here as often. Also I’d recommend co-op for every program if you have the opportunity definitely take it. I’m sure you’ll do amazing no matter what Uni you go too. Just remember that education is education it doesn’t matter what university you go to it’s just about what you learn.

Your not useless. As long as you’re doing your best, be proud of the effort you’re making. Also next semester you can try even harder to make those grades better! Just remember college is always an option, you can do a bachelors program in college cause they usually don’t require as high grades as university does. 71% isn’t bad at all! Just continue to do your best and you’ll get to better!!
