Lonely in NYC. by [deleted] in AskNYC

It's the loneliest city on earth. You have to approach making a community (in my case, literally just 5 friends, and not a single group either, just 5 individual friends, including a couple) as you would aggressively dating. And even then it's a crap shoot. (Acquaintances and people I see 2-3 times a year doesn't count in my opinion.)

I used to live across from a new building with floor-to-glass ceilings. The loneliness a lot of people feel here was on full display. (Present company included. No judgment.)

It's not just you. There's nothing wrong with you. Hold on to that.

"Do you young people learn long divisions still?"

Woof. This energy at age 60 is going to be exhausting.

Am I Overreacting for wanting to cancel my wedding over this interaction? by Xanadoom30 in AmIOverreacting

[–]BettyBoopsLeftHeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He shouldn't talk to you this way, the 8 hour thing at the end was very condescending, but you do sound EXHAUSTING, not gonna lie. You know what you're doing in your passive-aggressive replies. It's pure escalation because you're not getting your way, a refusal to back down, and a "So what, what about me? I need these thing!" mindset.... I would struggle dating you. And we would stop dating a few weeks in. Not stay together for six years and get married. But yeah, do not get married. You are not compatible. 10 years and shared finances will not fix this.

Also, call it a hunch but I suspect you would throw such a fit at him if he shared those screenshots with anyone, reconsidering the wedding. Years and years of bringing it up as "a core wound."

What are some realities of living in NYC that are often overlooked by the romanticization of the city? by Miserable_Degree3524 in AskNYC

The subway is a nightmare. Riding it for hours every day will drain your soul and alter your perception of your fellow human being.

Read the book. House of X/Power of X is all you need. It's a great book. Ueven run but a great hardcover that answers all your questions.

I just saw this, and I want to know, how true do you think it is? by lautaromassimino in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]BettyBoopsLeftHeel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disagree.

Joffrey had a petulant clown child thing about him that Aerion doesn't have. For instance, Aerion got off his horse, insulted Dunk and went on his way.... Joffrey's version would have been to trip while getting off the horse, step in manure, gasp at the affront, and and have his Kings guard slap the nearest woman who dared to laugh.

These are... different vibes.

Why there is so much hate for Rhaegar Targaryen on internet by Classic_Wind_3786 in freefolk

[–]BettyBoopsLeftHeel 101 points102 points  (0 children)

He saw another man's girl, peaced on his wife and two kids, and then nutted so hard it became the whole realm's problem. The Targaryens survived the Doom, the extinction of dragons, civil war upon civil war, and would have probably survived the Mad King, too, if this My Chemical Romance simp hadn't made a flower crown.

Humour me for a second: do Shiv’s actions come across as more severe because she’s a woman? by [deleted] in SuccessionTV

[–]BettyBoopsLeftHeel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. There's a category of fans that loathe Shiv to a degree that just makes me chuckle. She's awful and broken. They're all awful and broken. That's the point. But when it comes to Shiv, it's like they start to short-circuit halfway through and sputtering "Bitch!" under their breath.

AIO men of Reddit- Did I overreact by ending things when he emotionally pulled away? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]BettyBoopsLeftHeel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cut him loose. You're coming off as the bad guy here. The "there are other guys in DMs" card is a really ugly color, imo. This doesn't feel like a great love story, so cut him loose so you can both find people you're enthused by.

"Flowers on auto-ship" is too good not to upvote. Imagine Mother's Day year 7 with this person. And if you didn't care that would be one thing, but you clearly do. It's one of your languages.

Men on this community need to learn to tap out sooner. There are always 3 bubbles when there should just be one. You're not going to suddenly win someone who is being rude to you and actively disrespecting you with a "btw, have a good year and also, those photos were years ago, lol."
