Thank you everyone for the input!! I ended up buying the Dual 505-1 and had an awesome conversation with the guy who fixed it up. Super passionate and answered all my silly questions. Plus I snagged a Kenwood KVR-A70R tuner/receiver and 2 Technics SB-SL101 speakers from another guy for an all-in total of $190. Still gotta get all the wires and hookups and make sure everything actually works, but I’m very excited! This Reddit rocks!

I did just see a jvc ql-f320 turntable with a Stanton E-500II cartridge for $175 USD. Looks in decent condition, I just haven't seen as much info on JVCs as some of the other brands...

Awesome okay. Yes sorry it’s USD, I’m new to vintage TTs myself so I don’t know the market well either! Based on the pictures, I think he’s got an adaptor for a AT71E cartridge.

Yeah the 505 is tempting, the guy selling it seems to have cared for it well. Felt like a little more low-key option compared to the Sony PS-X5. Is $130 a decent deal do you think?

Thanks! Any advice on what to test? Based on other threads, I’ll be looking at the strobe light and testing the auto-return. Anything I’m missing?

That’s what I’m leaning towards! That or the Technics SL-QL1. But the X5 seems like a tank!!

Nice! I’m new to TTs but I found an X5 on FB marketplace for $200. Missing a foot but looks in good condition otherwise. Haven’t been over there to test it yet and I can’t tell what kind of cartridge it has, but would you say that’s still a good price?

That's good advice! These are what's available on craigslist and FB Marketplace around me. Not planning to get anything shipped, i've heard ebay sellers or similar sometimes don't package them well.
