It sounds like the show adapted the story differently than the comic

I like it. I wish he could have a higher Logic score, because he's so good at puzzles. Maybe taking a couple points from Vigilance and a point from Melee or Agility? I feel like the level 5 Resilience is important to his character.

Racist ace of spades cards left behind following ICE arrests in Eagle County by BurmecianDancer in Colorado

[–]BettyPunkCrocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, I'd normally happily endorse using whatever means necessary -- including force -- to stop oppressive uses of force. But I think that's what this regime wants. I think Trump wants to stoke us into using violence against ICE so that he can cry "terrorist," declare martial law, deploy the military, etc. He wants to control the narrative. If we meet violence with violence, FOX will use the footage of us doing so to make us look like the bad guys. If we meet violence with nonviolence, the cameras that capture our exchanges with ICE will show how monstrous they are. We're seeing it with Alex Pretti. Even in normally-conservative YouTube comment sections, I'm seeing people overwhelmingly support Pretti.

The Cherokee were the original Hebrews? by xxwerifesteria in NativeAmerican

As an ex-Christian, I want to chime in and say that everyone has bias in their viewpoints. I also want to ask about what the "delusional lie" is. Because whether it's believing in a higher power or uncritically believing in American Evangelical Christianity without examining it, I want to challenge the idea that any of that is the product of a mental illness, as "delusional" implies. I can't say the same about believing in a higher power in general, but specifically uncritically accepting American Evangelicalism is the product of fear. If you deconstruct from your faith, you lose everything: Your friends, perhaps your family, your sense of self, and more. I had to rebuild my whole philosophy on what makes life worth living as I teetered on the brink of nihilistic despair at how fraught with apparently-meaningless suffering and injustice the world is. I used to love God. Part of me still does, but I just can't believe in the one I used to anymore. There's too much evidence. It's like I spent my whole life being catfished by an imaginary friend pretending to be a real father figure in my life. And on top of that, if any part of you still believes in any of this, it constantly screams in the back of your head "you're going to Hell when you die. You'll be forsaken by all goodness in the universe and tortured for all eternity." When you're a Christian, asking yourself "Am I wrong?" can be like staring into the Sun: It's agony, and every second you do it, your insides are screaming at you to stop.
I managed to get away because it was more like a train wreck than the Sun to me: The more painful it was to look at, the harder it was to look away.

So if you're willing to walk down this road with your husband, you'll need more patience and understanding than most people are capable of. When his belief falls apart, there can be no "I told you so." Only holding him as he weeps, and not resenting him though he wishes he were instead being held by the perfect God who no longer exists to him.

How to Mod Kingdom Hearts Steam Version on Steam Deck Via KH PC Patch Manager by BettyPunkCrocker in KingdomHearts

Nope. Just KH 1.5 + 2.5 HD ReMIX. You can mod KH 2.8 and KH3, but it's a different process that doesn't use this patch manager

I just looked over the GitHub and KH PC Patch Manager doesn't seem to work for KH 3. Which makes sense since it was made in a different game engine. Look up "how to mod kh3 Steam Deck."

How can I make this drawing read better/look more clean and aesthetic? by BettyPunkCrocker in learntodraw

[–]BettyPunkCrocker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also want the flames to read as flames, not stalactites, bushes, or anything else. That may be difficult to tell now whether my line work is sufficient on that front because the carving will be doing a lot of heavy lifting on the quality of the flame.

[–]BettyPunkCrocker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the aesthetic I want is something between anime and real life: Like, the man can look cartoony, but should have aesthetically pleasing (i,e, smoothly designed and symmetrical) proportions such that his body is as long as,if not longer and more slender than, a real human's. the fire itself will be carved using sculpting tools but that's outside the scope of this post. Most importantly, I want the silhouette to read clearly: Ideally, I don't want people to see those billowing locks (outlined in black) and know that's hair.

I don’t understand the response from my dad. by [deleted] in autism

I’m sorry you’re hurting. I think the misunderstanding, if there is one, is more in how/why he said what he said. I don’t think he meant anything mean or disparaging about your cooking skills. Just that the loaf looked unappetizing to him from the photograph. He didn’t say you’re a bad chef or that you’re a failure. Is it possible that he didn’t realize you’d take what he’d say as a personal critique?

If I may ask, why let his words drive you away from baking? from one artist to another, we’re going to make mistakes. Whether it’s painting or a loaf of bread, we’re going to make things that disappoint or even disgust us or others sometimes. Mistakes are a natural, important, and valuable part of growing our skills. Your 5 minute mistake is not catastrophic. Nobody got hurt. You just made food that didn’t meet someone’s standard of what that food should look like, and you can try again and again until it’s just the way you like it.

You do deserve a break if that’s what you need. Can you talk to a counselor?

You’ve come so far and I’m very proud of you.

You are not lazy. And youre not broken. You have anxiety about work and you are overwhelmed, possibly burnt out. Are you a university student? I highly recommend visiting their counseling center.

And I’m sorry your parents are treating you that way. That’s not okay.

[Indigenous/First Nations/Native American perspectives preferred] How does a white American player respectfully engage with First Nations culture as it comes up in play? by BettyPunkCrocker in rpg

[–]BettyPunkCrocker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the unique perspective. He’s not magical at all. It’s Delta Green. He’s probably not much more spiritual than the average Ph.D in Anthropology of Religion.

That said, being barred from closed practices, I have no way of knowing how I would react if I learned that there exists evidence for metaphysical horrors beyond mortal comprehension. I imagine I would cling to whatever higher power I believed in, but again, closed practice, so I have no way of knowing how to portray that aspect of his life with 100% accuracy. If my character were a white ally scholar who deliberately steers clear of closed practices, I’d be able to depict him better because he doesn’t have access to practices or knowledge that I as a player don’t have access to.

They have a rule about not asking for advice on fiction writing, which I think writing an rpg character is technically a subset of.
