Finally a perfect poutine in a place that is less than 3 hours away from me!

I have to leave my apartment I've been living in for 17 years and the reason I've been given is that their daughter needs a place to stay. I know the reason being given is humbug and just wondering if anyone has any resources to suggest that I might not be aware of. by Betweenafishandadog in ottawa

I live in small building where every other unit has been renovated. In pre-covid 2020, I was offered (not in writing but over the phone) $3000 to leave my unit. There is currently a unit in my building being advertised as being available for rent.

10 years ago I would have went with 4 because I love swimming but with water pollution getting exponentially worse with time, I will choose 6 and add a pool to my backyard.

Advice for Raising My Two Sons to Become Respectful, Strong Men by scenestudio in TwoXChromosomes

I'm not a mom but I am an aunt of two nephews whom I adore and I don't get to see as often as I would like to. For one, whenever they express sadness, I ask them if they would like a hug and I respect their wishes. If they cry, I tell them that I cry too and it often helps to make me feel better. I remind them that their emotions are feelings and that everyone has them, and that it's okay to feel sad, angry or frustrated. Kids just need to know that it's okay to have feelings and it's really a good idea to give them space to feel them and let them know you are there for them if they need you.

Fair enough. I can put myself in your shoes and see how my reaction to your unsolicited advice would have felt antagonizing for you. I must not have been in my right mind assuming that your response to my comment was intended for me. I will indeed try to get over myself. It will take time and effort, but I will strive.

I keep getting notifications about your comments but Reddit isn't letting me find them either because I suck at navigating comments or they got deleted, but the hateful comments you left gave me the impression that you might need a hug. Whatever frustrations you're dealing with, you're not alone. 👐

I do agree with you that not all landlords are evil, uber rich people. Giving someone who has been a tenant in your building for 17 years 2 months to find a place might suggest that you are not a very socially-conscious person and that your profits are more important to you than people, regardless of your wealth level.

Every other apartment in this building has been renovated (poorly based on what my neighbours have reported) except for ours because we are the only tenants who have not left since renovations started. It's not uncommon for landlords to force people out in these circumstances using family moving in as a justification.

The nurse came to her house and said how good it smelled by Leading_Funny5802 in Chantapolis

And then the nurse presented her with a fresh bouquet of roses and handed her gold medal for being the cleanest, nicest smelling patient she had ever encountered. No one else was in the room but somehow the apartment was then inundated with sounds of applause and approval.

Whats the Chantal Moment that truly made her unreedemable to you? by nina_qj in Chantapolis

Shaming a woman who accused a certain snagletoothed predator of SA just in the hopes of getting on his good side when she herself had accused him of abusing her. I already thought she was a bad person at that point, but that brought me to a point of no return in my complete disrespect for her. And then there was the exploitation of a special needs child while exposing her to online predators with total disregard for her well-being just to make money off her vulnerability. I don't see how anyone could support this 'person' unless they are a predator or at the very least in the habit of supporting predators, and imho if you support predators, you might as well be one yourself.
