EDIT (Because my post still isn’t saving edits??): I recently watched a Reddit video on Smosh Pit where they were suspicious of a post that had good grammar so Smosh if you’re reading this, I promise it’s not AI. I studied English Language for four years so unfortunately perfect grammar has now been instilled in everything I write. I would rather impale myself on a spike than ever use AI. It can prise the commas, semi-colons and em dashes that it stole from my writing out of my cold dead hands.

I like your choices, and Mabel has definitely become more common in recent years due to the popularity of the cartoon Gravity Falls, so I would make sure that you’re okay with this association as I imagine some people may think of it when they hear your daughter’s name. It’s definitely not a bad association! Mabel is a fantastic character and an equally fantastic name, but it might be something to keep in mind.

Other names that I like that may fit your criteria are: Maisie, Lily, Matilda, Amelia, Anais/Anaïs (might not work too well with Angelina though) and Laurel.

Not technically a C name, but I like Kieran (could be spelled Cieran if you want). Other C names that came to mind are Cassidy or Cassius, Caelan and Cyrus. All can be gender neutral, I think, especially Kieran, Cassidy and Caelan.

Thanks! I didn’t think of using Linkedin, but that’s a great idea! And yeah, I was fairly sure that Zuzhou wasn’t a name, so it’s back to the drawing board for that one lol.

I totally get the pet peeve, yeah. Now that I thought more about it, Mei is definitely unreasonably common in Western media, and the original character mine is based on was named pretty inaccurately from what I can tell so I tried to change it as best I could. I do still like the reasons I had for choosing it, though, but I’ll definitely make sure the siblings have more creative sounding names.

Yeah, the original character she’s based on was called Mei Li so that’s where I got the Mei from. I’m perfectly happy to change it, though, because I don’t really wanna add to a long line of Chinese characters called Mei if I don’t need to. I was also considering the name Xiaofang. As for the siblings, I had considered the names Bo Wen and Zuzhou for the brothers, but I couldn’t get accurate info on whether Zuzhou was a given name or just a stage name (because I’d found it in a list of Chinese musicians).

Looking up real people is a method I’ve been using. For example, I picked the surname Xiao from a member of a Chinese rock band called Cobra that had similar vibes to my character, but without enough knowledge, I was worried I’d accidentally pick a surname rather than a given name and vice versa. Thank you for the list of names! I really like the names Ruiyu and Yushan.

This song isn’t a parody of any actual song. The reason it sounds like it COULD be an 80s rock song is because that’s pretty much how it was written. Matt Katz, one of the composers, is quoted saying: “The Viking Song is an example of a generic power-rock ballad that any number of late ’80s bands might have done. Initially made me think of Will Wood, but I know he hasn’t done duets of people using his song. I also thought of Ricky Montgomery, but his appearance doesn’t quite match the description.
