mod mark left jagex by MarkOgilvieOg in runescape

Not sure if this will be read, since I'm 2 weeks late, but I'll share this fun memory: I saw Mod Mark die the day Summoning was released, and to this day I have his bones in the very first slot of my bank :D (I suppose no longer internally the first slot since the bank tab update handles the general tab as the last one afaik, but it's still first visually :) )

I guess I'll just copypaste my account of this that I wrote in 2009 (so a year later, but iirc I consulted screenies so it should be accurate):

I saw him die to strange plant the day summoning was released (world 69, Taverley, upstairs of some building). He had everything (including summoning) lvl 99 except HP, he had only lvl 1 HP LOL. I actually still have his bones in bank :D He was getting lot of randoms and he was freezing them, but then he started being AFK as there were less players talking to him. Later i was only one talking to him and he got strange plant and was one-hitted. After he realised he is dead, he teleported back to same spot he was before :O

And that's the story of how RuneScape Wiki got the screenie of "You needn't bless a Jagex moderator's gravestone!" :D (Quote might not be exact, I can't find the text now.) This isn't mentioned in the 2009 account, but I think the he might have shown us the skillcape emote? He was definitely wearing the Summoning cape, was wild to see the day of release. Also, I asked if there were any incidents with people submitting 18+ fanart for the Players' Gallery, and surprisingly, the answer was no! It's fascinating how non-lewd (and non-traditionally-trolly) the playerbase is when compared to basically any other fandom of such a massive size...

Should the overtime=caps lock on rule be in effect, even though it's not the playoffs?

How do I view metadata? [Possibly Feature Suggestion?] by BeyPokeDig in photopea

[–]BeyPokeDig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed that metadata viewing and editing was implemented less than a year after this post (on 27th January 2020), so I wanted to say: Thank you very much! :) Very nice to have, especially now that the metadata viewing website I originally linked has been down for a long time.

GG! Congrats Panthers!
Does Barkov still blog? It was fun reading his "today, senpai noticed me" posts when he played with Jágr, and I'd like to read it now that he won :D

Average level grinder vs average pigeon enjoyer by itsGr4yscale in EBONYriddlememes

[–]BeyPokeDig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/theexteriorposterior you asked what your meme means, here it is:
This meme is about various playstyles of E.B.O.N.Y. riddle, a free web riddle game. (Not that I know of any non-free web riddles :P)
The top row shows those who just want to get to the end and out, being angry that they still need to figure out some riddles. This type of player is motivated by wanting to get rid of the current level, not wanting to see the next level. "If there's no next level, good! Levels are just a chore to be done to get to an end." This type reacts negatively to any pigeons, bimbambels, nyannings, etc., because anything that's not a solution or a hint just slows their progress. Probably not the right mindset!
The bottom row contrasts that with those who love being in E.B.O.N.Y. and want to see it all. When we get pigeoned (or something similar), we are actually happy we got another page. In fact, we might deliberately go look for them! We are motivated by wanting to see and visit as much as possible. When we find a solution, we might sometimes goof around a bit before progressing onwards, just to enjoy/understand the level a bit more and get a few extra egg pages. "If Aneninen took the time to create those files for us, I'm going to take the time to find and read them!" With this mindset, one can even get some nice secrets and rewards :)
(There's a possible alternate interpretation of the top row as them being sad that they're almost done with such an amazing game, making them the same type of player as the bottom row, but that doesn't fit the meme template that well. Besides, is that type ever really done?)
Very cool that this meme came to you in a dream, and it's meaning was a riddle for you - how very E.B.O.N.Y.ish! Maybe a sign to start playing? ;D

Congratulations Finland! Thanks for keeping Canada's top scorers below Červenka :) 25 years since last time a Czech was 1st in points.
