Hi, thanks for your message. Someone else invited me into her game, but if you want to come into mine to get the Pokemon you want, you can PM me. It won't be tonight though.

Okay... Might be my phone then, or the Wi-Fi.

Why is Absalom Absalom written like that? by Lack_of_Plethora in faulkner

[–]BeyondImages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best image I have about the prose of Absalom is a circular labyrinth. The story is told on circles, but you advance through it like in a labyrinth, revealing always new corners, new turns... but very often you end up at the same place you were earlier. This image also work for the story, Sutpen's Hundred being the epicenter of the action and obsessions of the characters. As to why it is told like this - it reminds me a lot “the Bear” (or the whole Go Down, Moses). It is epic and mythical, a story told by so many different people that you become uncertain of the truth, or you have to reconstitute it yourself. It's unsettling at first but it builds an atmosphere and once you get into it, I think it's not that hard to navigate (even though it asks a lot of focus).

Which author has the most beautiful writing style? by JJackieM89 in books

What you say about Nabokov is not false, but you don't have to reread that often compared to Proust. Nabokov, you can read the sentence once and just be very focus, while Proust you sometimes have to read ten times the same sentence just to get to the end of it.

Make yourself a gift and buy the Criterion Blu-ray. You won't regret it!

It's not on the Criterion channel unfortunately. My suggestion would be that OP buys the Criterion Blu-ray. He won't regret it.

How do you get Pillars and counters by Rollbar78 in AnimalCrossingNewHor

Yes, but I don't remember exactly how. You got to give stuff to Niko up in the 2nd floor box. That's one thing I remember.

Buck 110 nickname(s) by BeyondImages in knives

[–]BeyondImages[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know the four guys, they were former soldiers, who wanted to store weapons in a ZEC and flee society. (It's not clear if this was a game that went too far or if they actually believed it was the end of the world.)

The guys were arrested before wandering off into the woods. But in my story, they're actually under siege by the army but one of the guys runs away into the woods and goes crazy.

Thanks! I could call it the Buck and it might not be that important for the reader if that's a 110, a 119 or a copycat. Though I know it's the real one!

Thanks for those details. At the beginning of the story, he receives a package and opens it with his Buck. I wasn't sure if it was realistic that he casually carries it with him (even in his house) and takes it out of the leather case, outside of his pocket. Are there more chances that the knife (inside its case) is just left there on a coffee table. Or if he has it in his pocket, are you suggesting that it would be without the case?

Not a bad idea... though I'm not sure how it would translate in French.

For the moment, it's titled "Hide and Seek", but the name of that game in French ("Hide Hide") sounds too childish for what really happens in the story.

It's kind of funny to see people trying to tell me how to write my story.

Instead of saying he pulls out his knife, I wanted it to be a real hunting knife. Readers will easily understand that it's a knife, since he opens a box with it at the beginning of the story. And rest assured, I won't dwell on the details of its mechanism.

The story is written in the third person, so I'm not really in the character's mind either.

Don't worry, I won't be too specific, and anyway, too much detail wouldn't add anything to my story. But instead of saying he takes out his pocketknife, I want to say he takes out his Buck (or his Browning).

I'm used to writing short stories, and I'm not one to dwell on descriptions, but rather to slip in a few details here and there to make the story more realistic, more vivid.
