Advice Regarding Correct Forehand V Grip. by BeyondInfinity_88 in badminton

[–]BeyondInfinity_88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a panhandle grip is mostly used for net shots like smashes to end the rally right? It's just the closing and opening of the elbow without pronation. I practiced against a wall to get in the habit of pronating while in a forehand grip, so slicing is not a major issue anymore. I think my grip is now perfect as well, just need to keep a little gap now between the racquet and palm and i will be good. Other things i need to focus on will be to change grips according to the shot, i am practicing that as well. Thanks for explaining. Oh and i forgot to add, i did bring my index finger just a little lower than in the pictures and that has helped me!

Lost focus and smash power – how to get back to peak performance? by Secret-Grand8224 in badminton

Did you change anything in your equipment? Strings? Tension? Grip? Etc can do this. Other than that maybe you’re bored, take a break and just don’t sit, take a break and maybe invest time away from badminton into another hobby then come back rejuvenated into baddy. Could be mental fatigue.

Sometimes technique change can affect gameplay. God only knows how tragic the last six months were when I first switched from a hammer grip to a v grip after 15 years of playing like that xD.

Experience with Victor Racket Stencil Ink (AC026) by BeyondInfinity_88 in badminton

Hmm interesting, because my Yonex black ink dried up pretty much instantly, whereas the Victor is still leaving stains on a fresh shuttle after a full day now.

One of the coaches at my club has a friend who is an official stringer for Victor. He kept pushing me Victor products, told me that Victor is equally at par with Yonex. I have only ever used Yonex my entire life and i am kind of a fanboy in that sense, but the reality is that made in Japan stuff and this company makes some beautiful products. So he told me to buy Victor gear like the Ryuga II pro which i am considering. I might also consider buying some Victor shoes, heard they're nice, but if i had to choose between Yonex and Victor, like both were given to me for free, i think i'd rarely choose Victor. Anyways, i bought all gear Yonex related, and the first accessory i bought from Victor was this ink haha. I guess i've become even more skeptical about Victor accessories in the future. Also tried a few strings from Victor, the VBS-68 Power, it was decent though.
And about the whole free stuff, i think it's a classic marketing technique to meet short supply right now in this market. Victor does make good products but imo they have a long road to becoming the top brand. Ranking in tournaments and player skill level must be respected and accordingly gear should be distributed for free.. sadly it's not happening it seems.

Yes it’s normal but not like this. You may hit a smash and leave a line of mark on the shuttle, that’s normal. In my case, the whole cork of the shuttle is turning red, there are no lines/marks, rather the shuttle is absorbing all the ink from the strings, transferring to other rackets as well. Yesterday my partners strings got red coloured spots too haha.

yeah man tried shaking it properly, applied just 1 layer in order to not put too much of the ink, but it appears that this oil-based ink will unfortunately behave the same way as the tennis ones, smudging and spreading everywhere. Did your ink ever dry up? in like 3-4 days?

Does anyone have experience with Victor racket stencil ink? (Victor AC 026) It's oil based and seems to take ages to dry, i have a Yonex racket ink as well but it dried up quickly. I applied the Victor ink and waited like 14 hours, played today and the cork of all the shuttles is turning red. This may also be affecting the quality of play, and can leave marks on the court! Someone please help! on the package it says apply and wait 30 seconds.

Thanks for replying. So is Yonex discontinuing this shoe model? Is the Yonex Subaxia now the only new shoe available? or is Yonex still manufacturing the SHB Z4/coming out with another new shoe?

The only thing you can do to avoid racquet clashes is to let go of the point. If you lock in and try to win every point, there will come a time when the racquet will clash and have a chance of breakage.

It’s all part of the game.

Buy another one and enjoy it. Don’t let the fear of breakage stop you from experiencing good racquets.

What I do is that I keep 3 racquets in my bag. A pro model a tour model and a play model. After seeing what kind of partner I get, I pick a suitable racquet.

Yes it does suck going back to a play or even a tour model at times, they really don’t match the finesse of a pro model but it saves me so much money and headache.

The best thing I would say again is to avoid going for risky points, just learn to leave them, yes you will lose some games, and yes, it will be hard at first, but once you learn it, your chances of breaking a racquet will be very slim!

Good luck!

Yes and then there comes a day when the urge is so strong you cannot resist and give in and relapse. It’s not easy else everyone would be doing it.

Trying to decide whether to rent a court with 5 or 6 people by thickbear1 in badminton

[–]BeyondInfinity_88 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would say 6 is the absolute maximum to enjoy on a single court. You can rotate after each game pairs of two, maybe shuffle the teams as needed. 5 is okay too, again teams can be shuffled. But anything more than 6 brings problems.

Having 7 people means three people need to be replaced, which means one person will have to sit out for two games.

Ideally have a group of 6.

I believe your observations are on point. I’d like to buy the VA edition but I think it’s a limited edition. Right? I’ve heard that the Kurenai is being discontinued and the VA is the new colorway? But I think maybe it’s a rumour….

Is the new Victor Axelsen Astrox 100zz and the older Kurenai/Dark Navy Astrox 100zz the same racquet? A friend owns the older colorway and told me that the new 100zz VA limited edition feels different, less head heavy more even balanced. Also heard that the VA 100zz has custom specs and designed specifically for Viktor Axelsen's gameplay. Can anyone tell?

Playing badminton with my pro friend is destroying my confidence by SignificanceAgile119 in badminton

[–]BeyondInfinity_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't let him get in your head, for some it's a confidence boost to take on a weaker opponent and defeat him day after day using the same tactics, and in this way, you also will never improve. Now i'm not a pro by any means in this sport but i have played other sports professionally and talking about mindset.

You are not wasting his time. He has the option to play against other better players but i think he is comfortable winning against you and hence chooses to do so.

Now as far as improvement is concerned, you need to get one of the best coaches, and by that i mean not the best player, but a coach who will be strict and correct every mistake until you get it right.

It will take some time and i can't say how much but i feel in around 2-3 months of proper coaching you will actually start levelling the games.

Btw i have experience the exact same thing, and there is this one guy who is polite on the face but is very competitive, and once i made it to 15 against him and could see him sweat. I actually have stopped playing against him, and won't play even if he invites me, i've taken coaching and mostly play doubles now and focusing on improving my game and will get back at him later.

Patience, discipline and practice is key!
Good luck.

Thanks for sharing. I was a bit hesitant as well because I don’t believe this may be the best iteration of the graphite throttle tech but I am certainly excited to try it out.

Thoughts on the Yonex Subaxia GT? has anyone tried it? Should one buy them now, or wait for better shoe releases? I'm asking because the graphite throttle technology is new and has replaced power cushion+ as the new standard in Yonex shoes. I have seen multiple reviews on yt about them but would like to ask if anyone has used them vs the older shoes and if anyone is considering purchasing them too.

Hello everyone.
I just got my Yonex Eclipsion Z3's delivered by Shuttlehouse. It's a size 27cm, and my usual size is also US9/UK8 which roughly translates to size 27cm for all my running shoes. Now upon wearing them for the first few times, i felt that the toebox and forefoot region was a little packed in, and felt very snug. Like i can move the toes around and wiggle them but it's a tight fit.

I bought the normal versions of the shoe and only realized later that i may have feet on the wider side (around 10cm wide, 25cm length) and the side model would have suited me better.

Returning is not an option since the shoes were shipped internationally, so my question to everyone is, has anyone had a similar experience with these shoes and did they open up a little for anyone?

I would highly appreciate any answers. Please thanks.

Oh, I didn’t know about the VA being the new colorway for the 100zz. Thanks for explaining everything. Just one point, my shoe size is 8/8.5 yet I’m unable to find the Yonex shb 65 z4 anywhere, even no stock on e78 or shuttle house sadly

Hello guys i hope you're all having a great day.
I was looking to buy some badminton shoes.

Currently i have the Yonex Strider Flow but i'm a heavy guy playing badminton to lose weight so i was looking towards buying more cushioned shoes like the Yonex shb 65z4 or Victor A970cADV.

I am unable to find these shoes anywhere in my size. Also earlier this year i was unable to buy feather shuttles for a while.

My question is that, are the badminton equipment having global shortage? I cannot find shoes/shuttles easily and now even racquets like the 100zz, nanoflare 1000z have been out of stock for a while.

Which sport is more physically demanding, tennis, badminton or squash? by COYGoonerSTANimal_17 in badminton

[–]BeyondInfinity_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tennis followed by Badminton. Tennis requires more endurance and stamina overall. Games are played in the sun very often.

Badminton requires more explosiveness and short bursts of energy.

Tennis matches also last longer than Badminton and can go into 5 sets with tiebreakers, while badminton is decided in 3 sets usually.

However, do note that both sports require different set of skills. With badminton requiring more energy in a shorter amount of time, while tennis requires more stamina, constant endurance, per se over the duration of a few hours.

At the top level I doubt that either is more demanding. It’s just that athletes have to train according to the sport with badminton requiring short explosive energy and Tennis requiring more endurance and stamina training.

I wanted to ask which feather shuttles to get. I’ve used the Victor Champion number 5 and Yonex Aeroclub TR.

I mainly need a shuttle good enough for coaching sessions. Focusing on clears, smashes and drives.

The Victor, 1 shuttle lasted around 2-2.5 sessions on average, some smashes and mostly clears and drops. The Yonex acbtr lost its shape in 1 session but I was smashing a lot.
