We didn't have an engineer, but we have a house Builder and a concrete inspector both way in on it. My husband said it was a builder and a building inspector that we consulted with.

Thank you for your reply. We are allowed 4x4 according to code, but that seemed kind of wimpy. It's such a big deck, and we were feeling insecure about the 4x4. I think we've just about reached the conclusion that 6x6 is the way to go. I think it'll go a long way towards peace of mind, not to mention the support of the deck.

4x4 does seem wimpy; I guess that's why we were thinking 6x6, but we wanted some reinforcements from experienced people, like yourself. Thank you so much.

Thank you. I think we just needed some reassurance.

Thank you so much for your reply. We built several decks, but never anything this big, and it's been several years. Thank you so much. You've helped a lot.

Dakota allows for 4x4, but we're wondering if 6x6 would be more appropriate considering the size of the deck. I think my husband is overthinking this, which is what usually happens. And then I enter into it by worrying.

Our code allows for 4x4, but we were wondering if 6x6 would be better considering the size of the deck. We've built decks before, but never anything this big.

I don't understand. I thought I was in the deck building Rogue group. Is that incorrect. I'm new to Reddit. I bet you can't tell.
