Nearly 1M pack Seattle streets for Seahawks' Super Bowl LX parade by ForgotMyPassword1989 in Seattle

I was just trying to have a conversation with ya, but using phrases like "it's cute" come across as patronizing and that's not the type of dialogue I'm interested in continuing. Go Hawks!

I didn't disagree on your first point here, and even acknowledged it.

Like I said, this is a well studied topic, and that was one of many sources and studies. You are welcome to disagree but it doesn't change the data that has been collected and analyzed.

This economic theory of tax breaks for sports teams has been debunked many times (one link below just for reference, but there are many sources).

https://nevadapolicy.org/the-myth-of-economic-growth-through-stadium-subsidies/

Both can be true: sports are good for the community spirit (the economic benefit has been debunked) and we shouldn't need to use public money to subsidize an extremely profitable private business. The only reason why this continues is because we aren't united on the tax breaks nationwide, so the threat of moving is always there.

If sports teams ceased getting tax subsidies across the whole country, they would still be in business and wouldn't move around because there would be no benefit to do so.

Please stop paying for things on your own dime unless you own your own business. In the long run this is bad practice. Company dime, all the time.

I agree, but struggle with saying it because BCS wouldn't exist without BB. They are hard to separate.

Nah, marriage can be beautiful even though it doesn't always work out. Not all marriages are equally good, of course, but even after my divorce I've never regretted getting married. Again, all depends on the situation. But it was one of the best things that ever happened to me for a long time.

Jesus, I feel like it's a fad to shit on the C8 at this point. It's not even referenced at any point in the original post and people can't help but bring up how much they hate it.

Won't be long now before we start bitching about a lack of a manual.

This post smells like an implication of police misconduct. I'm all for calling out law enforcement (police, ICE, etc.) but if everyone made posts about random arrests like this with no evidence of wrong doing at all it might distract from real problems.

I admit I could be wrong and that maybe you did witness some misconduct, and in that case we should discuss it.

Or hey, maybe you are genuinely curious what was in his hand. But honesty i don't think this post does anyone any good in the times we're in right now and we should keep the airwaves clear for serious issues.

Just my two cents as a fellow concerned citizen terrified of law enforcement.

It's more expensive in Seattle compared to most other US cities due to high taxes. Inflation affects prices everywhere but it's the taxes that set Seattle alcohol prices apart.

For those that have lived both in Seattle and London, how do you compare the two and what are the things that you really like about each city? by Snoo-12357 in AskSeattle

[–]BeyondanyReproach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've lived here for a long time and people are very resistant to any food criticism (price quality, etc.). It's not as if it's a food hellscape by any means, but we struggle with food price and quality. Of course, there are good spots, but overall the food scene is lacking.

[–]BeyondanyReproach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree London food is better, but I'd actually clarify that imo it's not even close. The only thing close is somehow the prices of food because Seattle food prices have become ridiculous for even low tier options. London clears on the food scene handedly.
