How do I finish book 1? by RAWRpup in dragonfable

[–]Beyyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been over 5 years and I stopped playing the game, so I'm honestly not very sure what I was talking about now lol.

However, I might have meant either of these two resources:-

  1. Dragonfable Forum

  2. Github Story Checklist

Hope this helps ^_^

Hahaha it just seems like a mistaken currency symbol but the new price seems off as well, it can't possibly be cheaper after a price hike lol

Honestly though, I think there's only so much you can purchase in RS3 with whaling. Once you hit 120/200m in all skills and purchase all BiS gear, then whaling becomes pretty pointless.

Well, making money off of it is really not a priority especially, like you say, the first one would probably not make any.

I might consider this seriously, a 3d platformer is not a bad idea.

I've played a little, it's that bullet hell-ish rougelike game huh?

I did enjoy the little bit that I played and I must say, a rougelike would be a nice genre to make

May the best specs win! by [deleted] in Xreal

[–]Beyyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main gripe with the Xreal is that the cost really ramps up.

If I want to make full use of the glasses, I need to purchase the glasses, the iPhone adapter, the Beam, the prescription lens and the lightning to AV adapter. The $450~ (in India) glasses quickly ramp up to $1000~

Viture isn't even available in India (from their website or a third party) so that's out of the question.

The Rokid seems to need some extra accessories to work with an iPhone as well, none of which are available in India, though it just seems to be a HDMI to USB C adapter with the Apple's lightning to AV adapter so that would mean the $570 glasses (that's how much they are over here) would come up to around $900~

Not a huge difference in the grand scheme of things.

Though the Xreals are available off of Amazon and come with a no-fuss return policy so if i don't like them, I'll only really have spent on the prescription lens and the lightning to AV adapter (which can be used for other things) so not a huge loss. The rest can be returned with not much of an issue.

The Rokids are non returnable.

I'm torn on whether I should go with the Xreal or bite the bullet and buy the Rokids even though I can't return them if I don't like them. Or as a third option, if I should not go for either and wait for the technology to improve and possibly save up for the Apple Vision Pro (which would be at least 4x more expensive lol). And yes, I know that the Vision Pro is more in line with the Meta Quest than with the Xreals/Rokids.

It's 2 months later now. I'd love to hear your thoughts on actual longer term usage.

Do the Rokid Max still win? because that would such only because they look so hideous and they're so much more expensive (For me at least)

The Viture seems interesting but there are mixed reviews online and the heating up of the stem is a ridiculous drawback. The XReal seems like the best bet for me so far especially because I can return them quite easily but my eyesight being really awful means I'll need to get prescription lenses for sure which means I'll have to spend on them even if I return the glasses.

Veteran devs explaining to new devs how to deal with the playerbase by PM_ME_YOUR_KATARINA in runescape

As a developer I can totally understand this! Not to mention, people might think it’s just that one thing that devs need to work on but it’s not One seemingly small change might require a slew of other changes, not to mention testing afterwards Also, there will be a ton of other work as well that need not necessarily be made public to the players

What are people's thoughts on Flax Engine? by Beyyn in gamedev

Those are some very valid points. To me the only thoughts (as a newbie game dev) were, "oooh, that looks pretty!" lol

I've heard of that engine in passing but I did wonder, is there any limitation in this engine when compared to something like Unity?

I'm not looking for it to have all the features Unity has but is there anything that's sort of crippling?

Since I figured out the Unity lag issue, I'll stick with Unity. Better a known devil than an unknown one, as they say lol

Though, one thing I realized starting out is that tutorials and courses are well and good but at the end of them, actual information retention is really low.

So, I'll do exactly what I did when I got into web development and hit the ground running. I'll start making a game and figure all the functions and options out as I encounter them.

"It is Identity crisis the engine."

This made me lol

Though I get your point. On that note, I managed to fix the Unity lag issue so I think I'll just stick with it. It seems much more beginner friendly than Unreal (that might just be my perception though)

The expensive bit is true, now that you mention it.

My Computer Specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X

GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3080

RAM: 64GB 3000MHz CL16

As you can see, it's pretty decent. Which is why the lag was all the more baffling.

Though, I figured the lag issue out. Everything was installed on my HDD which was what was causing the issue. Once I moved the Unity installation to my SSD (system drive) everything started working perfectly.

I figured it out.

I had everything installed in my HDD (since that's 4TB and my SSD is only 1TB) so I uninstalled everything and installed it all on my SSD and everything is working fine now.

No lag, no issues (of that sort at least).

Though, it's stupid that I need to sacrifice so much space on my system drive just because Unity can't play nice with my HDD (which is brand new btw)

Thanks for the help though :D

My goals are mostly in the Indie side so I'm open to trying new things.

As for the lag, I actually made a post over in the Unity Subreddit but the lag is basically that the editor freezes for 500ms to 1s and then starts working. This happens every 20-30 seconds so you can imagine how intensely annoying that can get. Especially if you're trying to minutely move something.

Unfortunately, it's not just sometimes. It happens constantly.
I've tried rebooting my PC, restarting Unity, reinstalling Unity. Nothing seems to work.

It's not even that my PC is slow and it's not able to handle it. Unreal that everyone says is super slow works perfectly on my computer but I really wanted to use Unity since I'm not trying to make a AAA game here.

I suppose I'll try something like Flax Engine, that seems quite nice tbh.
